The Night Stalker

The Night Stalker

A Poem by Kat-Marie Berti

The night stalker paces to and fro

waiting for the roosters crow

eyes as red as its own blood

coat as dark as the earth’s own mud

teeth as yellow as the sun

temper worse than a human’s gun

he watches you day and night

waiting for the moment to strike

his thirst is never satisfied

until the day humanity has died

when it has smelled prey

it will wait for it all day

the only thing to do is fear

for you will know when it is here
