The Terrible One

The Terrible One

A Poem by Kat-Marie Berti

The Terrible One that rips souls to shreds

Who goes about taking children from their beds

Never wonders all the harm he’s caused

Should click his cruel life and keep it paused

These innocent victims weep for all their lives

While he drinks and smokes as he drives

Forgets what he’s done and never looks back

To all the hearts he turned hard and black

He deserves to be thrown in the fires of hell

No mercy for evil, tortured for eternity as well

Condemned by all those he touched and hurt

Treated and spat on cause he’s a piece of dirt

You may never regret all the harm you’ve done

But how would you feel if it was your son

Bleeding and bruised in the lonely dark

Stalked and menaced by a raging shark

The hurting has lasted long enough

I’m tired of it all; I know I’m not tough

But this is driving me crazy, I’m dying inside

Hear my story, I need someone in which to confide

You know... I really enjoyed this poem. What it means to me... (most likely isn't the same for you, but here goes) is that there are things that people do to other people and there's nothing you yourself can do about it. Someone close to you may be hurt by someone else and no matter how much it pains you, knowing that the person is being hurt, you can't help them. Well... you probably can somehow, but then it might make things worse for everyone including the original victim. So... I enjoyed this poem because of the drive. It's fast-paced and keeps the flow moving along. Thanks for writing The Terrible One.

I liked it, especially how it becomes personal in the end. The storyteller, a victim.
