Life is nearly over

Life is nearly over

A Poem by Kat-Marie Berti

Why can’t you just grow up and see

That life is not only about you and me

There are other pressing matters at hand

Then listening to everything you can’t stand

I know as a couple we should share

Our simple fears and the leather chair

But take a break, baby, fend for yourself

I may also need to take care of myself

The wedding was well over 8 years ago

And we are slowly bringing back the dough

From rich to poor, time has its surprises

Let’s move on forward toward our prizes

Our children are quickly growing upwards

Forgetting all we taught them as keywords

The fact of the matter is life is nearly over

So let’s take the time to smell the sweet clover

Amen to taking the time to enjoy life!

...while we still can.

That's so true. Life moves to fast, not to stop and smell the surroundings.

Great write!

I can relate to this one. Time slips away so fast. It seems I was married and had my first baby yesterday, but it has been twelve years. Well done.

Clever in a subtle way as...Sweet clover grow on cultivated land and give life to the caterpillar which in turn becomes the butterfly which themselves have unusual life cycles. So perhaps what you feel may have ended may indeed have a few surprises, as the smell of the sweet clover may actually give a new beginning to the people who stand close...

Just a thought to Ponder...

This was quite lovely. I really like how you mention that even after all the time you two have been together that you both have to take care of yourselves before taking care of each other. I am really grateful to have read this. Thank you for sharing.
