Time robs us blind

Time robs us blind

A Poem by Kat-Marie Berti

You wanted me right by your side

To love and cherish throughout the days

But now it seems as if you died

I am no longer one of your rays

It’s funny how time robs us blind

One minute you never wanted to leave me

The next “It’s over”, you’ve made up your mind

It was never with me that you wanted to be

I’m not going to cry or act as if I care

All that will only make things worse

Love, in this world, is really so rare

So I’m going to focus on becoming a nurse

And if, one day, far off in the future

You see me standing in the street

Don’t come close, remember your hasty departure

But chances are not likely that we will meet

This is has happened to me. My ex just got up and walked away from me. It really hurt. He feed false words to me, and i was stupid enough to believe him. Now to get over the sorrow, i am just focusing on myself, ( to become a teacher and writer), and show him i'm much better off!

Im glad i read this poem! Thank you for writing it!

I really liked this. :) The rhyme was good, it wasn't forced or anything. It flowed real well, too. I really liked the last line of the first stanza, "I am no longer one of your rays."

simplicity is always a toll that needs hard work to use, and you've done that. in such simple yet profound manner you've manage to communicate your feelings and ideas, wonderful read indeed

It sucks when people change their hearts after having cause us to believe so strongly in. And i like your ending on becoming a nurse. That speaks of your own strong love towards the common stranger. Sometimes, thats all we can do, to heal and move on.
Great Write! :)
