Alarm clock braying

Alarm clock braying

A Poem by Kat-Marie Berti

I wake up to the alarm clock braying

You’re not beside me, all a dream

I step under the shower, water pouring

And slather my skin with body cream

Thinking, all the while, wondering

Where in the world you could be

I seem to remember all the pondering

Last night the dream was you leaving me

But it can’t be true, you can’t be far

You’re probably downstairs having toast

Or having a morning run in your car

And searching in the freezer for supper’s roast

But careful investigation tells me I’m alone

You’re not to be seen in this house at all

How could you leave this wonderful home

And how could you forget to call

I missed the note taped on the table

About you telling me the whole story

How you can’t stand it here with no cable

But I stop reading, it’s getting too gory

I like it, good work.

This isn't bad, but some of the verbs you used took away from the poem itself like slather. It just seems like the wrong word choice. Overall, though, I liked it.
