Breaking silence

Breaking silence

A Poem by G.A. Grim

How long since your voice I heard

Each night I come home

It is that same gift awaiting my return

Silence, I hear it even now, oh how it screams

It denies me my every word

And your eyes, once so warm

Have turned so very cold

I fear, I am now a broken thing

Never to find my shape again

I know not my sin

And would forgive you yours

If that is what is needed

Anything just to hold you

But these arms fail in their purpose

So once more to bed, alone

Where I will wrestle with my demons

A hollow victory this night

Staves off desire for the bottle

Which is well, for I am drowning

Each breath a struggle, yet help does not find me

You just stare, from that picture hanging on the wall
