I Am You

I Am You

A Poem by TheChristianLoner
"

How I become like others, living through them, to survive in this shell.

"
My life is not my own; I have no life
I drink from the watering hole of others
For my watering hole is chained up
It reeks of stillness and uncleanliness
The waters of others are my elixir
So let's share your waters so I can live

I become like you; I talk like you
My thought processes synchronize with yours
I become the person you crave the most
The heart of your own heart, that I become
To bring you joy and happiness
But chiefly to survive in this shell of my life

Yet my life drains before me
As my expectations of you fall away
You fail my own image of you
I thought I made myself just like you
But you had that little difference
I keep wanting to say, 'I am you'
