Kelsi learns about the bond that formed between her and Growlithe

About an hour and a half later, I regained consciousness. I was just starting to sit up when I heard "It's about time you got up! I thought I was going to have to wait until tomorrow for us to begin our quest.” I quickly looked around the room for the source of the voice, but all I saw was the Growlithe I chose as my starting Pokémon partner. I also saw that I was in the same room of the lab as when I passed out earlier. As soon as my gazed returned to the Growlithe, he opened his mouth and, to my utter amazement, spoke in the same voice that I head a couple seconds ago. “So, can we please go now?” it asked. Still trying to process that Growlithe was talking and that I could understand it, all I could do was nod my head. After a few more seconds, I was finally able to ask, “How is it that I can understand you?” Growlithe’s reply was “The reason that you can understand me because, when you touched me earlier, our souls were joined together in a bond that is impossible to break. It is this bond that gives you the ability to communicate, not only with me, but with every Pokémon that we meet. It also allows us to find each other if we ever get separated. You should also know that a bond like this is very rare and extremely powerful, if it is ever used for ill-purposes it could cause a devastating catastrophe. I’m sorry to say this but that is all I know about it.” After Growlithe finished speaking, he walked over to the wall that I was sitting next to, lied down with its head resting in my lap and quickly fell into a light sleep. A minute passed before I realized that I was still sleepy, so I gently lay back down and fell into a light, peaceful sleep.
