Chapter 1

  Hi. My name is Kelsi Steel, but you can just call me Kelsi. I am the ten year-old daughter of the Kanto region champion, Drake. I am so excited because today’s the day that I get to choose a Pokémon to start my journey with! I think it would be best if I start at the part where my father and I walk into the lab, don’t you? Okay, here it is …

       “Okay princess, we’re here!” my father says as we walk through the open door of professor Oak’s lab in Pallet Town. Holding my hand, my father and I walked across the tiled floor towards a man wearing a white lab coat. As soon as we were within three feet of him, the man first looked at my dad then at me. “Are you Kari?” the man asked me. “Yes “I cautiously replied.”  Upon hearing this answer the man smiled and said, “Okay, hello Kelsi, my name is Professor Oak. I am happy to meet you. Now, are you ready to see the three Pokémon your father has caught for you to choose from?” Unable to contain the excitement from my voice, I replied “Yes, please” Laughing the professor turned around and called out “Okay you three come on out” from the shadow cast by the back wall came three Pokémon, a Staryu, a Ralts and a Growlithe. “Here they are” the professor says once the three Pokémon were about five feet away. “So, you already know which one you want?” The professor asked me when he turned towards me and saw me staring at only the Growlithe. “Yes sir,” I reply, then I walked over to the Growlithe. “I choose this Growlithe, professor” As soon I I finished saying this, I placed my hand on the Growlithe’s head. Then, before anyone could say another word, there was a flash of purple light, then I passed out.
