My child

 

 

Tenderly,

I look upon you.

so innocent,

of this darkened world.

Your cry,

resonates throughout me.

 burdens heavy,

I carry for you.

Harsh world lightened,

by your care free smile.

gently kissing you upon the cheek,

world brightens for a moment.

weights of life,

lift with the sight of you.

For my love so freely given,

I will protect you always my child.

Perfect! Tremendous flow, imagery, and emotion. The first stanza is my favorite and I could picture a mother sitting in the hospital with all these thoughts going through her head while feeling so lucky looking into her baby's eyes. GREAT GREAT poem!
