To my dear Uncle Paul

To my dear Uncle Paul

A Poem by Faust

You were my best friend,
Someone I could rely on 'till the bitter end.
You were always there for me,
Making sure that I was as happy as can be.
Now that you are no more,
And your spirit has walked out of that door,
I don't know what I am supposed to do.
It has always been just me and you.
Us against the world is what you would tell me.
Our friendship went as far as the eye can see.

Author's Note

Faust
This morning, at 9:37, I got the call that my uncle passed away. He had stopped seeking treatment a couple of weeks ago. He knew what he was doing, and he knew that he didn't have long. I just wished I could've said goodbye. I haven't seen him since thankgiving last year, surrounded by family. He was the healthiest I have ever seen him since his stroke a few years ago. During the last hour of that visit, he was telling me how he couldn't wait to attend my graduation. I hugged him and I told him that I would see him next thanksgiving like I do every year. This is a poem dedicated to him. Thanks for reading <3

And now, Uncle Paul will live for ever, Through you my dear!
Remember good bye is for a person.
But reading this- we can sense that he is not a person- he's transcended that stage-atleast with you.

Feeling proud to have read your work.

LOVE...

You express yourself well in your poem & also in your author's notes. Since I have hit the skids myself, when it comes to years of failing health, I can attest to the fact that sometimes an old person is simply done living (& hurting) It's hard to care about how loved ones feel about this, when that feeling of wanting to be done with life hits long & hard. It sounds like you are understanding of how this must've felt for him, even tho it was hurtful in many ways for you. I love how your writing usually addresses the deepest aspects of being human (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

My dearest condolences to you. Very nice poem. If you need to talk I'm here for you.

The loss of a loved one is so hard to face.
You just want to hide,
go somewhere and escape!
But death is something
we all must go through.
I know it's hard
when it's someone you loved and knew.

Just know now,
he is in a better place.
No more hurt or pain shall he face.
It seems unfair, and yes, this is true,
but he is in Heaven now
watching over me and you!

God has called him home to rest!!
And he's being well taken care of
Because God knows best!
