The sky's the limit

The sky's the limit

A Story by Faust

I am not defined by my past.
I do not live up to who I once was.
I do not wait for my past to catch up to me.
Instead, I make a dash toward the future.
Instead of looking down upon myself, I look up to the sky.
I look up to the birds and the clouds.
I picture myself up there, above the world.
They say "the sky's the limit"
But I believe you can go much higher than just the sky.
I believe you could go beyond the limits.
People have spent years trying to rip my dreams out of my hands.
They think they know what's best, so they take my dreams and shape it into their own.
These are the same people who have told me that I will never amount to anything.
That I am too young, too naive on how this world works, to be able to write about it.
Often I hear the words "as long as you live under my roof, you will follow my rules."
Well, why can't I make my own rules and follow those?
Why can't I chase the chances and run after my own life?
Who's to tell me that I can't be great?
That I can't win?
No matter how hard I try, they always see me as a child.
I am a child, but even as a child, I know what I want.
I will pass the limits of the sky and make it to space.
I will pass all expectations that have been created for me and proove myself to me and no one else.
Because this is my world.
This is my rule.
I am in charge of me, my future, and my life.
So, here I stand, and I shall lead myself through the challenges and to my dreams.
