The future children

The future children

A Story by Faust
"

The future is up to the children. It is their job to try and protect it from the hands of fate.

"
I'm a child. Just 5 months shy of 17. In my 16 years of life, I have seen and experienced so much. I've witnessed death, I've been hurt, beaten, bruised. And I ask myself every day, why is life like this? I have a hope, a wish, a dream. I believe that the children of today are the future. They are born only to be molded in the image of the adults in their lives. They do what they can to please their 'superiors.' They do this to survive. In this world, the younger you are, the less choices you get to make. None of us get to choose who we are or what we will become. We are created to carry on the legacy of our family. Everything we do is in our family name. Life is like a battle feild. There are no winners, only those who survive. We have spent centeries fighting the human race. Wars that have torn families apart, murder in cold blood that spread throughout the media, mass shootings in schools where children are supposed to have a safe environment to learn. This isn't the world I want to see, the world that would end up destroying itself if we don't do something about it. I'm a child, yes, but I know how this world works. I know that we are both the predators and the prey. We have killed our own kind for the sake of feeling satisfied. We are building a future that may not exist. We are working our way to despair. This can not go one. This is not the future I want to live in. I don't want to have to be afraid of walking home late at night, or worry about going to the restroom by myself. Thousands of people have had their life ripped away from them at the hands of another. In the year 2017, there were 1,830 murders in California alone. I ask you this. What does life mean to you? You only have one and usually that life and your future is in someone else's hands. They choose how you spend your life and weather you keep it. I was fortunate enough to survive this long with most of my friends, but others aren't so lucky. I want a safe future.
