The father that taught me about life

The father that taught me about life

A Poem by Faust
"

We live a long life. But not everyone stops to learn from the lessons that life teaches us. Sometimes you just need a push or a shove in the right direction to success.

"
Dear father,
You are the joy in my life.
You have taken away all of my worries and strife.
You are the light in my darkest days.
I could tell you I love you a mllion and one ways.
But I won't.
I'll keep this short.
Remember when I was small?
I joined a basketball team and you told me to give it my all.
Because of you I had the confidence to run when I would rather walk.
You told me to follow the ball and use my head.
Even though I swore I would wind up dead.
I mean, they had the man power to tear me apart.
But you told me to keep on going. Don't stop just start.
That wasn't just a message about the game.
It wasn't a message telling me to stop being lame.
It was a message telling me to not slow down.
If you start to sink, you would only drown.
You were telling me to not let others pass me by.
Don't give up if you won't even try.
That message has stuck with me for a long, long tme.
Don't ask for a nickle. Ask for a dime.
Don't stop half way.
For if you do that, there is always a price to pay.
You have taught me all I needed to know.
And with these final words, it is time for me to go.
I love you for what you do.
There was never one of us. There was always us two.
Don't forget that life isn't full of lemons and sour things.
It is time to live life and take flight on wings.
That is all I had to say.
And wth that, have a good day.

This is such a well-detailed tribute to your dad! The vivid specifics are what makes this writing shine. You really SHOW us this relationship in a way that is memorable. The extended analogy with basketball is a great way to SHOW instead of tell (first rule of good writing). There's a sweet childlike quality that comes thru, too, which makes the reader kinda fall in love with the way you are, the way you see your world (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

Did he ever get to see this? Great Poem. I'm not going to criticize this poem. I didn't notice any spelling errors though. You have a thing for poetry. 100 out of 100 from me.
