Which Do You Believe?

Before you begin to read, I want to make it perfectly clear that I don’t expect, nor do I want to change your belief system. I just want you to consider what you believe and why you believe the way that you do. Is it because that is the way that you were taught and you haven’t given it much thought? Maybe it is time that you do. On the other hand, if you feel comfortable, it makes sense, and you know why you believe, you can skip over this. Also my beliefs are likely to change. Anytime that I find a deeper Truth, I will drop the old and accept the higher knowledge.

Do you believe the Adam and Eve story? Or the Darwin theory as the way humans began? I know that Adam and Eve are in the Bible and the Bible is God’s word. However, I read the story as an allegory or a parable, like the stories that Jesus told. God is spirit. The first chapter of Genesis describes how God created everything spiritually. Genesis 1:27 “So God created man in His own image…”.a spiritual being. Genesis 2:4-5 “These are the generations of the heavens and of the earth when they were created, in the day that the Lord God made the earth and the heavens.

And every plant of the field before it was in the earth, and every herb of the field before it grew: for the Lord God had not caused it to rain upon the earth, and there was not a man to till the ground.”

Then from 2:6 on the story is retold in a different material way. Man made from dust (the most valueless and worthless material available: dirt) woman from the man’s rib and right away they sinned. And worse, we are still being punished for their sins; that we had nothing to do with. No, Adam and Eve are not my ancestors. Darwin has a theory (which is an educated guess and I stress guess) The missing link has never been found. A monkey is not my ancestor either. Man has never been less then man.

How do you regard Mary’s virgin birth? Mary mother of God? Impossible? I have never had a problem with Jesus being born to a virgin. God assured Job that He could raise the very stones up as children for Job. All babies are created by God not by humans.

Was Jesus son of God? Or God incarnate? I am aware that Jesus declared, “I and the Father are one.” I don’t understand that as meaning Jesus was claiming to be God incarnate. I interpret this as meaning that Jesus was aware that without God he could not exist. Jesus was a man with the essence of Christ. He showed us what man can and should be.

Was Jesus an actual man, who performed miracles? A legend? Perhaps a lovely myth? I believe Jesus healed but not by miraculous God intervention. My opinion is that Jesus was a man who healed by bringing the patient’s thought up to the knowledge that God did not create sickness, therefore, sickness does not exist. That knowledge healed then and still does today.

Did Christ sacrifice His life for the forgiveness of our sins? I have several problems with this statement. I believe that Jesus, the man, died on the cross. Not as payment for our sins, but because His body was becoming so spiritual that it was beginning to glow. Jesus allowed His body to be nailed to the cross in public so that when He returned from the grave there would be proof that death is only a human mirage. Second Christ can never die. Third, my God does not demand, need or want blood sacrifice from animals or humans. Does yours?

How do you classify the devil, Satan, and Lucifer? An entity? A fallen angel? A fantasy? I prefer ‘excuse’ When we get caught doing something that we know is wrong, “The devil made me do it,” is an acceptable explanation. Another synonym for the devil is Error (the belief in a lie or a false sense of things)

Is baptism necessary for salvation? If so what is acceptable? Do you have to be immerged in water or will a few drops of water sprinkled on the head be enough to get you through heavens gate? I personally think any kind of ritual is the foolishness of man to impress other men. God determines your sincerity by what is in your mind and heart, not by the show of rituals you perform.

These are some of my thoughts, take them or lave them. If you have doubts, investigate until it becomes clear to you what is right for you.
