I Wonder

A Story by Loretta Edwards

I Wonder

I wonder…What the world would be like and how different our lives would be- if" the good men who made the choice of which religious stories became the books of the Bible " had rejected the Eden allegory???

The first chapter of Genesis has been largely ignored. I think partly because we don’t understand what Spirit is. The word spirit brings to mind, ghost, demons, angels, ferries and things we aren’t sure even exist. We are more familiar with distilled spirts making alcoholic beverages, liquor. Ghost, to us, means a dead person trying to return. To “give up the ghost” means we have died. The Holy Ghost, is a term that we don’t hear often, seldom use, and comprehend less.

It is understandable that people believed the Eden story as historical history. It is in the beginning of the Bible; it has all the intrigue a good story should have.

A Love Story.     Adam and Eve, happy, in love, living the good life. All their needs met.

Intrigue.      Eve is bored. Someone new comes into her life. His intentions are not honorable. Eve is taken in with his good-looks and charm. She agrees to his proposal to commit the original sin, and brings Adam into the crime.

Mystery.      Who was this stranger? Where did he come from? We learn later it is Satan. But where was all-knowing God? Why didn’t God prevent this error in judgement before it happened? What blame does He share? He put forbidden fruit in the middle of the garden, where they saw it every day and thought about it and wondered what made it so special? It consumed their life.

Punishment.     Satan was transformed into a serpent (snake- although later he was again walking on two feet. Read Job) Adam and Eve were tossed out of Eden and had to work hard just to survive. I understand God couldn’t just let it go, they had broken the law. But is it fair to punish us when we had no part in their sin?

If the race consciousness had not read, and believed as fact, that  Adam and Eve were the first and only people on earth; that they brought sin into the world; and because of their sin we must suffer evil, disease and death; our world would be a much different place. We wouldn’t be trying to make God human; with a body; with emotions, a love that comes and goes, fierce wrath and every emotion in between. God does not look like us, think like us, or act like us. Thank God!

God is Spirit. There is no such thing as a little spirit or a little power in this spirit. Read Genesis chapter one. Every day God created something new and good. Can you find any reference or statement that evil of any kind was a part of this Spiritual Creation? All creations of God will last forever. Had sin, evil, sickness, and Satan been created they would reside in heaven, with no cure, for eternity. Heaven would be no better than earth.

We know it was a Spiritual Creation because the trees and plants were formed before they were planted in the earth. God’s last creation, when everything was ready for them, our Father-Mother-Creator-God created the male and female in His own image, Spiritual. Spirit is you, in you, as you. You are Spirit.

We are all more than dust or dirt or a rib or even sperm and ovary. We are, everyone on earth, God’s beloved children. Pass that knowledge along to your children and see how quickly we have heaven on earth.

We don’t live on the mortal plane of consciousness where evil can happen. But as long as we believe we do; we will suffer the consequences.
