Bible History Or Opinion?

Bible History Or Opinion?

A Story by Loretta Edwards

Bible History Or opinion?

I have heard people say, “The Bible is God’s word and not to be questioned!” I have heard others complain, “I have tried reading the Bible, but it is much to contradictory for me to believe.” I can understand both points of view. However, I think anything we are going to stake our life on needs to be examined in detail, searched and investigated until you understand and are secure in what you believe. The Truth will stand up to the scrutiny. Maybe my comments will help-but don’t take my word. Find your own Truth.

We have to take into consideration that the Bible was written in a language no longer spoken, by a people with a very different life style and values. By superstitious men long after the events. Also words lose meaning in translations. Then there is the problem of leaving out a word or adding an extra one. “God is a Spirit.” Gives the impression that God is one of many. “God is Spirit” gives God the honor, power and glory of being the One and Only Creator of everything.

I have to admit, when I read the Old Testament I can not relate the viscous, blood thirsty, kill everyone god; to the Loving Father that Jesus introduced to us. I have often wondered why God demanded Moses to conquer the people and take their land. The land where they had built cities and lived? In those early days there were few people and millions of acres of vacant land. Why was it necessary to destroy the people and their cities? Why not take the vacant land and build bigger and better cities?

To hostile people and warriors, conquer means WAR. Conquer also means to overcome by physical, mental or moral force. Mental and moral are not weapons of war. Conquest cam mean the winning of someone’s love.

God has not changed. Man’s knowledge and understanding of God have made us aware that we can’t ask anything of God that He hasn’t already given us.

When we read, “God holds us in the palm of His hand,” it doesn’t imply that God has a huge hand. Jesus introduced God as our Heavenly Father. Not to give the impression that God is a male, in human form. Jesus wanted us to know God as a loving parent. God is Spirit; not human in thought or form. Spirit has no form and we are children of the Father-Mother-Creator-God; who created everything Spiritually; including us.

The Bible talks about Satan as if he is a person to be feared. In Genesis chapter1 describes God as creating for six days and every day was pronounced good by the Creator. There was no Satan, evil, sin, sickness or death among this good. Chapter 2 tells the Eden story and Satan plays a huge part. How can he: when he was never created? The story of Eden is not history, it is an allegory- Adam stands for A-Dam or barrier between God and the real man God created. Adam is error, imagination, superstition, and foolishness. Eve is the darkness of thought and misery before the light of Truth dawns. Satan is the big lie that brings the hallucinations of all things false, sin, disease, accidents, fear and death. They are all characters in the Eden story, not real.

Adam made with dust? Eve a rib taken from Adam? Our Father has already created His children from His own Spirit; in His image: Perfect. What reason would he have to recreate using dust of the earth? The lowest material available? The complete story of Eden is false. God is not punishing man as a fallen simmer. God doesn’t know sin because He never created sin. God holds each individual in His Mind as the perfect idea that He created. Someday we will reach that perfection. Until that time God is loving us as if we have.

“God is of purer eyes then to behold evil.” This is what I believe

God Bless your own search for Truth, regardless what you have been taught.
