Is God Angry With Us?A Story by Loretta EdwardsIs God Angry With Us? An article in my daily newspaper recently was titled “Is God Angry With Us” Do you think so? He has good reason to be mad with us. With devastation of hurricanes Harvey and Irma, the flooding in South Africa and destruction and massive earthquakes in Mexico; all in just a matter of weeks; not to mention the terror and loss of life in the many wars around the globe. One has to wonder how a loving God can permit such misery? However there are two quotes in this article that give a hint to the answer. #1 In the words of German Theologian Jürgen Moltmann, ‘God heals the sickness and the grief by making the sickness and the grief his suffering and his grief.’ I sincerely hope not. I’ll tell you why. Jesus healed scientifically. Sympathy is feeling the same mental anguish as the person you are trying to help. Compassion is pulling them out of their misery without joining them in it. Jesus did not see a deformed, suffering or sinning human, He saw the perfect child of God. He knew so positively that our Father did not create a germ, virus, or bacteria to harm His beloved children that: the false sense of sickness fell away. God is not human. God is spirit. He is not burdened with human thoughts or feelings. He cannot get angry, hurt, sick, or sin and because we are his image and likeness, in Reality, neither can we. Our Father didn’t create evil of any kind. God knows only what He created and it is all good. There is nothing but good because God is Infinite Good. Our Father gave us free-will so that we can love Him/ or not, as we choose. We have taken that freedom and created all of the ills the world is heir to. Our race consciousness has convinced us that Satan is as real as God. Not So!! God is the One the Only Power in the universe. We will suffer from all kinds of error and evil as long as we believe in duel power. #2 From a Christian perspective, God also suffered by being Crucified on the cross as Jesus Christ. Again, I hope not. I’ll explain. God can not suffer and Jesus felt more pain from knowing most of the people watching didn’t understand His message. Jesus said, “I and my Father are one.” He wasn’t declaring that He was God. Jesus was telling us that God, as spirit, fills all time and all space and we are all within God and one with God. The Bible is the most read and most misunderstood and misinterpreted book sold. We read it thinking that God is one of us. If you would allow God to be God…..all questions would have answers and all problems would disappear. The third quote I completely agree with. #3 Philosopher Devi Zephaniah Phillips argues that it is mistaken to attribute to God a human feeling like anger because God lies beyond human reality. Believing that hurricanes, floods and earthquakes are ‘God’s punishment’ reduces the divine to human terms. And there you have your answer. Our father, God, loves us unconditionally. Not like humans love. Love today, indifferent, even hate tomorrow. God is of purer eyes than to behold evil. He holds you in his Mind as a perfect idea. Nothing you can do will change that. This is not to suggest that you go out and stop a speeding train because you are invincible. Or stand naked in an icy blizzard to prove your point. I am telling you that you can care for someone with a bad case of the flu without worrying that a flu bug will fly up your nose or invade your throat and make you suffer too. When you pray for healing and it doesn’t come, it isn’t because God is angry with you. What isn’t broken cannot be fixed. Your race consciousness and free-will have deluded you into error thinking…belief in a lie or false sense of things. You have been taught as a kid to don’t do that you’ll get hurt, don’t eat that you’ll get sick. You have seen it happen. It is a fact of life. Everyone gets sick and everyone gets hurt. You see what you believe as truly as you believe what you see. You never question why. Then you teach your child the same error you were taught, thinking that you are a good Christian. Ask yourself this-When God is the Superior, the Only Power and Creator, which fills all time and all space with good, how can there be anything to hurt or harm you in any way?
