Satan's PowerA Story by Loretta EdwardsSatan’s Power Many people have personally seen an UFO and have to believe what they have seen. Some people have not seen any and feel that those who have are mistaken about what they actually saw. Others are curious and want the truth. There are UFO investigations checking every sighting. It has occurred to me that people have talked about ‘the devil’ or ‘Satan’ since the dawn of time and what do we know about him? What facts do we have? As far as I know there is no task force investigating this opponent of God. I have heard that the best way to defeat an enemy is to know his strength to guard against him and find his weakness to use against him. He must be an awesome power when he has the courage, the bravery, and the willingness to face and deal with the rightness indignation of the creator of the universe. Where do I start? I know that I have a long list of questions that I would like answers for. I’ll begin with…Why is humanity so fearful of Satan? Is it the horror stories others have told you? I realize that I am in the minority here, but I have to confess that I haven’t found any irrefutable proof that Satan even exists. Satan shows up very early in Eden; apparently without God’s knowledge. Where did he come from? God cursed Satan for his mischief and caused him to crawl on his belly forever. Yet, several books later in Job; God found Satan ‘walking to and fro.’ Has Satan’s power overcome God’s sentence of forever? A friend told me of hearing that Satan was an extraterrestrial with good intentions. This alien only wanted to free Adam and Eve with the knowledge of good and evil, so that they could “think for themselves.” I don’t think so, but maybe? Good job! He helped us from safety, comfort and happiness to war and all evils. However, that doesn’t give us a clue as to how he got the power to confront God. When Eve and later Jesus were being tempted by Satan what were they seeing and conversing with? A mist, a myth, a shadow, an alien? A handsome man, or an ugly red man with horns, a tail and a pitchfork? Perhaps he was a gargoyle, a hallucination, or a strange entity? Have you had personal contact? Have you seen, heard a voice, been tempted, been harassed, forced into weird behavior against your will? Can you give us a description of what you encountered? I have come to the conclusion that Satan is no more than a figment of our imagination. The only power ‘he’ has is what we want him to have. We need something to blame for our troubles so men made a devil; something as evil as God is Good, and then feared his very own conception. Matthew 16:23 “But he turned, and said unto Peter, Get thee behind me, Satan; thou, art an offence unto me: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but those that be of men.” Another scripture that I use as my argument is John 6:70 “Jesus answered them, “Have not I chosen you twelve, and one of you is a devil”? Neither Peter nor John had changed in any physical way. They were no different, except their thoughts were mistaken. Peter was wanting to argue with the Lord. Peter the same as told Jesus that He didn’t know what He was talking about and that He was not going to die. Judas, like the most of us, had his mind on material matters. Judas was more concerned with how much money they had when he had the unique opportunity to learn about God’s Reality from the Master. A large part of my conclusions come from the fact that there is One Mind, Power, and Creator that we call God. God created only good. Therefore; either Satan, evil, sin, sickness and death are good and will go on forever, or they are nonexistent. God fills all time and all space with good. Good and evil cannot occupy the same space- therefore Satan is unexpressed or nonexistent and Satan’s power becomes self-inflicted nonsense. 706 words Loretta Ellen Edwards © 2017 Loretta Edwards |
