Where-How-Why?A Story by Loretta EdwardsWhere " How " Why? Children ask a lot of questions. They are asking these questions at a much younger age all the time. Are you ready with a quick answer? “Babies are found in the cabbage patch.” Or maybe the old favorite, “Like Santa the stork flies over the house and drops the baby down the chimney.” The next question is a little harder. “How are we made?” “A seed is planted and the baby grows like a flower in the garden.” That will satisfy their curiosity for a short time. When you feel your child is old enough to hear “the fact of life,” which story do you choose to explain where we come from, how we are made and why we are here? Do you tell them the Darwin theory of how we evolved from monkeys and that is why we behave little better than animals? Do you inform them that it is only a theory, an idea, which has never been proven? Of course there is the Eden story. Adam and Eve sinned and as punishment, they lost their home in Eden. Eve was forced to suffer severely in childbirth. Adam has to work from sun up to sun down to provide food and shelter for his family. Can you think of any good reason that can explain why we are still paying the price for THEIR sin? Maybe you like the old fashioned idea, that when a man and woman fall in love they marry and the male puts his sperm in the woman’s ovary and a baby is born. I say old fashioned because today the young people don’t think marriage or even love is important enough to bother with. They just move in together-If they know each other well enough. Perhaps you prefer the modern scientific method? Test tube babies; surrogate mothers; or artificial insemination, where male and female don’t have contact with each other to conceive baby, and stay complete strangers.6 In a few years cloning will make it possible to make an exact duplicate of yourself,--If they haven’t done it already. Dolly, the sheep, was cloned years ago. You have been busy; what with; raising the kids; living life. Would you like to explore these facts again, just to make sure they make sense? If, as Darwin claims, humanity was once monkeys, apes, or one of that kind, why would just a few branch out and become so different? Why not the whole tribe? Nor does that explain how or why the animals already had life. I consider the Eden story an allegory. I can’t believe the injustice of being punished for thousands of years for sins of people we never knew. Would a stupid or corrupt judge sentence you to prison today because your great grandfather was a horse-thief? No. But, you believe that God has and still does punish us for Adam and Eve’s sin? Even when He knows that we are innocent? I guess you don’t know your heavenly Father very well. As for science-they have formed an embryo in a petri dish, but they didn’t create Life. There is life in the sperm that fertilized the egg. Science is doing a lot of experimenting with mixing the DNA of plants and animals, but they start with life, they don’t create life. Only God does that. I have always wondered how a sperm and an egg, two tiny objects, can produce the miracle of a human baby. They don’t possess the material needed. For instance, neither are made of hair or fingernails or eyes. Yet, a baby develops without the interference of the parents. With all the parts in the right place. What could you do to help anyway? You wouldn’t know when to start the heart beating or how to attach the fingernails to those tiny fingers. It is a complete metamorphosis. Like the woolly worm into a graceful butterfly. But, how is it done? My opinion is that none of these ideas give satisfactory answers. The first chapter of Genesis emphatically reveals that God is Spirit and fills all time and all space. Space filled with only good can in no way contain evil. This explains that we are creations of Spirit and created out of Spirit. That is Where we came from and How we are made. Why are we here? Why are we in human form? That question you will have to figure out on your own. My opinion is that God gave us free-will. Our Father wants us to love Him because we know His goodness and His love for us. The prodigal son found the world has nothing to offer. His brother learned the lesson a different way. “Son you are always with me and all that I have is yours.” Most of us are the good brother that do all the right things for all the wrong reasons. Our worst sin is to believe the race consciousness lie that there can be a power, called Satan, which opposes the only Power: God. Put God first and tell your children, “God created you and you are heir to the kingdom.” Give God your love freely. 855 words Loretta Ellen Edwards
