Want To Play?A Story by Loretta EdwardsWant To Play?
Want to play a little mind game with me? Pretend that you are rich. Not just your every day average millionaire, if your going to pretend go all the way. You are filthy rich, in the top 10 wealthiest people in the world. Money is only paper to you. You give your children the best of everything. After they leave home you still get pleasure in seeing them provided for and enjoying your gifts. Suppose that this cherished child adopts a life style that you have never approved of. Becomes verbally abusive to you, uses foul language, dresses provocatively, uses your money in frivolous endeavors. Suddenly this troubled person is faced with a terminal illness. What do you do? The adorable baby that you cuddled, played peek a boo with, bounced on your knee and dreamed a wonderful future for is gravely sick. This same baby that has gone out of their way to be insensitive to your wishes, has embarrassed and humiliated you is now suffering. What is your reaction? Do you think this is deserved punishment for bad behavior? Or do you forget all the bad unpleasant stuff and rush to help? You have to decide. End of game I think that your answer is that you would spend all you have to see this child recover. No matter how much or how often this child, who is now an adult (but will forever be your baby) has disappointed you, you will give your fortune and give up your life to save theirs. You will do everything humanly possible to achieve a cure, because you have never stopped loving this child. Now we will give this game a different twist. How about we make our heavenly Father the loving parent? And we are the sinning, disrespectable, ailing kids? Not much of a stretch in this is there? What would our Father’s reaction to our illness be? Would He ponder over past sins, seriously consider if we deserve to be healed? God owns everything. He is much richer then we pretended to be. The cost to heal us would not prevent God’s healing. Perhaps, He would send a skilled doctor to our side to make us hale and hardy? Maybe He would just put His hand on our sick, wretched body, as Jesus did, and heal us instantly? You decide End of game I frankly don’t see any of this as God’s style. In the first place-Where did our sickness come from? Did God ordain this suffering? If He did, how can we be so arrogant as to think we with money, or a doctor with skill, or a hospital with all the new and fancy machines, or medicine that is made with God’s substances can outwit God’s plan? Everything God created in the beginning is good and will last through eternity. If sickness is God created good, then enjoy it. If not God created it does not exist in reality. Don’t let the race consciousness con you into suffering over nothing. In the second place- Our Father, in my belief, is not concerned with our past sins. Therefore, He did not need to debate whether we were worthy of health. As a human you did everything you could do in a humanly limited way. You don’t need to spend money to buy something that you already possess. Think what God can do! Think what our Father-Mother-God has done for us. Think deeply and health becomes the only Reality. God does not need to heal us of sin, sickness, or death. They are nothing more then a shadow across our trust in our creator.
