Unintentional SinA Story by Loretta EdwardsUnintentional Sin
We tend to think of sin as something dark and terrible. Murder is probably at the top of the list of sins. Fortunately, murder is one sin that we don’t have to worry much about. We may have a temper-also a sin- but not to the point of considering the murder of the object of our anger. Embezzlement might be the second on the list. We probably won’t embezzle millions (because few of us handle that kind of money...but if we did?) Although you will have to admit that, you have been a tad bit less then honest about, ‘the root of all evil’ at some point in your dealings over the last year. I don’t know if God grades sin, like a little white lie as a 1 and murder as 1,000 and all in between are graded on the curve. If so that ’little black book,’ where He supposedly keeps a record of all of our sins would weigh a ton in a very short time. I don’t think that this is the way God governs His world. “Spirit is of purer eyes then to see evil.” When asked who we are, we identify ourselves with a name and a body. We answer-I am-son or daughter of--we weigh so much; are so tall; we are athletic or a book worm etc. Our friends might describe our personality as quick tempered; moody; friendly or whatever. We are programmed to believe that we are personalities living in a material world. The truth is we are not our body or our personality. In my opinion, the most devious sin committed is using God’s name in vain. I don’t mean with cuss words. I mean, and we are all guilty of this, saying “I am” in a negative way. In the Bible we learn that the children of Israel were slaves in the land of Egypt. God told Moses that he should ask the Pharaoh ,to “Let my people go.” Exodus 3:13 “And Moses said unto God, Behold, when I come unto the children of Israel, and shall say unto them, The God of your fathers hath sent me unto you, and they shall say to me, What is his name? What shall I say unto them? Exodus 3:14 And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you. Which means to me that the I am that you think that you are could not exist without the I AM God. God is Spirit and man is Spirit’s image You say, “I am sick,” and get busy to prove your statement. Where could this sickness have originated? God’s creations were all Good. Either sickness is good and will last forever, or God did not create it and it is nonexistent. You be the judge. The image that we see in the mirror is what we expect to see. The puffy eyes; the sore, red, runny nose; the flushed cheeks from the fever your cold has invented. This is not the Real you. This is not the individual that God sees. You are not a mortal, material man suffering from circumstances beyond your control. You are God’s beloved child made in His image. When you say, “I am sick with a cold,” you are claiming that God has this condition also because you are reflecting Him.. You are lying about God. A dozy of a sin. Disease is illegitimate. When you say I am sick. I am sick and afraid that I am dying. I am so mad, did you see what they did? I am sad. I am afraid. I am depressed, I am broke and in debt. I am discouraged, All sins There are so many ways to say I am that dishonor God. Worse it is so common to use I am in a negative way, and we, every one of us, have at some point used them all. Now we don’t even notice that we sin. We accept as fact that ‘into every life a little rain must fall’ and that ‘poor but honest’ is the best we can hope for. We should ask ourselves if we believe the ideas we are passing on so glibly. We don’t stop to ask ourselves, is this true? We accept without questioning, repeat without knowing the harm these idle statements create. When you are tempted to say, “I am afraid.” STOP! What do you have to be afraid of? Think. What did God create to harm the children He loves? Can’t think of anything? Then say, “I am protected and provided for because this is what God does.” The Bible warns us of idle talk. God has never uttered the words “I AM sick and afraid.” Do not sin by saying, “I am” followed by a condition impossible for I AM GOD to create. Make a point of using I am in a happy, healthy, loving and thankful way and see how quickly your life improves. Think before you say I am and sin no more.
