It Isn't God's WarA Story by Loretta EdwardsIt Isn’t God’s War I recently read, “We today, should learn that there is a real war going on between good and evil, and that the Devil, not God, is the true source of evil.” I agree with only one statement in the above…God is not the author of evil! The creator of all good did not include sin, disease and death, and call them good. Having absolved God of all blame, let’s focus on the devil, Satan, and his army of daemons and their handiwork. God had barely finished creating a spiritual perfect world and spiritual children in His own image and likeness when Satan showed up. There is no mention in the Bible of what Satan looked like at that time, but he must have been presentable, because Eve enjoyed his company. He was a con artist right from the start. He made Eve believe that she needed to know more. She knew good; she was in Eden. The serpent made her believe she needed to know evil or her life wouldn’t be complete. How dare God keep this great knowledge from her? The key word here is believe. She had to believe in Satan and listen to his smooth, coaxing lies. Eve ate! Adam ate! God cursed Satan and caused him to be despised and crawl on his belly forever. I am no fan of Adam and Eve. I consider them an allegory. But that is another story and we are focusing on Satan who is now nothing but an ugly snake. Satan shows up, by name, next in Job. I am not a Bible schooler, so don’t just take my word on this. It may not be the same guy because he is walking to and fro and I don’t know of any snakes that have feet. And the curse God put on Satan was to last forever. Anyway, God asks, “Whence comest thou?” I would like an answer to that question too. Then God and Satan made an agreement. Satan took everything from Job. However, Job remained faithful to God. Then, God gave Satan permission to make Job physically miserable, until God finally said, “Enough.” God rewarded Job for being steadfast and gave him better health and more resources than he had before. Again, in my opinion this is also an allegory. Satan found Jesus when He was in the wilderness, alone with His thoughts. Satan is this “thing” and ‘the devil’ is like a nickname? Anyway Jesus was human, so of course He would be tempted like us. Only Jesus knew better. I think that is all that Satan is. Thoughts of doubt, fear, uncertainty, misgivings, uneasiness, superstition and ignorance. Error in thought, race consciousness, a lie that has been believed. I’m going to tell you something that you a not going to like, but before you reject the idea completely, think hard about it. God Is Not Aware Of Evil! God knows only what He creates. Because God did Not create evil in any way, shape or form, evil does not exist in God’s perfect spiritual Reality. “God is of purer eyes than to behold evil.” Jesus came to teach us the Truth. He encountered Satan. The Bible doesn’t tell us what form Satan appeared in…a mist, an entity, a hologram; so it could have been a fear in Jesus’ own mind that He might fail? Once Jesus made up His mind to be the “Savior of the world” He had no respect, regard or consideration for Satan. In fact Jesus was quite rude, saying in effect, “Get out of my sight. I don’t want to have anything to do with you!” Then Jesus began His ministry. He introduced the people to a loving Father-God. He went about teaching, healing and casting out devils. How could He heal and defeat devils? Jesus knew the Father. He knew the unreality of the problem, be it sickness, sin or death. He cured the people of a belief in a power opposed to the one God. The only thing Jesus had to heal, then and now, is the belief that there is anything to heal. Sin is self-inflected nonsense, errors, ignorant belief, and mistakes. 1) When God fills all time and all space, where is there any place for His opposite? 2) God created all that was created. Where did Satan come from? 3) Where could Satan generate the power to confront God, let alone start a war with Him? 4) Is mankind plagued by a sinister power that rivals omnipotent God? 5) There is no limit to God; or man in God consciousness as Jesus is 6) God is too intelligent to fight a war against something that doesn’t exist. While man has searched the havens and earth the greatest secret of existence is within himself. We are surrounded by an intelligence that knows exactly what we ought to do, and how to do it. But we do not know all that It knows and It can only know for us what we know It knows. The next time you think something is wrong, know that God knows there can’t be anything wrong. God isn’t fighting a war. 864 words Loretta Ellen Edwards © 2017 Loretta Edwards |
