I Can Do ThingsA Story by Loretta EdwardsI Can Do Things I can do many things that God cannot do. I can lie, cheat and steal. I can be deceitful, devious, dishonest. I can be hateful, spiteful, vengeful, and vindictive. I can wallow in self-pity, poverty, discouragement, broken relationships, lost dreams, and depression. My heart can attack me, I can lose my eyesight, my hearing, my mind and my mobility. I can get sick, vomit, cough, run a high fever, writhe in pain, and eventually, from my sickness or an accident, (which is another feat that God cannot achieve is have an accident)-and my crowning accomplishment is…I Can Die. You probably have a few things of your own that God cannot do. Aren’t we proud! Do you think that God envies our ability? How did we get smarter than God? I think we learned in two stages. {1}We have confined God to a heaven in the sky, making Him separate, apart from us and unreachable. This conclusion along with the {2} belief that God has relegated His power to an evil entity, gives us the power to be miserable. Both notions are foolish, superstitious, idolatrous, fantasy carried over from when people didn’t know any better. Is that any reason for us to continue the deception? We claim to believe that God is the creator of the universe and all that is in it. In the next breath we claim just as forcibly that the devil made me do it. Who or what is this devil? Where did it come from? God-created? Self-created? If God created all that is….either He is the creator of all evil or evil does not exist. Would an intelligent Mind knowingly create something to disrupt and destroy His kingdom? Something that He would be forced to fight constantly to defend His resources and beloved children? No, of course not. Then how do I account for all the evil, destruction, mayhem and chaos in the world? Easy. The God that you profess to revere is a complete stranger. A stranger that you have prejudged by the accusations you have heard, the rumors circling around Him, and the opinion of the people that you love and trust. They mean well, but have they investigated the facts or are they passing along propaganda that they believe? We must be unwilling to accept any authority other than our own interior revelation. We are all born with a conscience which is happy to teach us the Truth. We are not suffering human beings. We are God’s spiritual children and God is our Life. It is not necessary to look to the sky and pray for favors. Our Father-Mother-God will not withhold any good from you nor intercede and bestow extra blessings in your emergency. God will never give you more than He is giving you now. God Is! God is always being God. Can you ask for more? We don’t need to remind God to hold the earth in space, bring the stars out at night, for the sun to rise, direct the birds in flight, or teach fish to swim. God knows how to run His universe and take care of His children. Don’t let our Father be a stranger any longer. The interior revelation will come when you listen to that still small voice of conscience and realize that God is within and because God fills all time and space he is also surrounding you, like the air you breathe, with an abundance of everything that you need or want. Then you won’t mind giving up all the many things that you can do that God cannot. 606 words Loretta Ellen Edwards © 2017 Loretta Edwards |
