Race Consciousness

Race Consciousness

A Story by Loretta Edwards

Race Consciousness

By race consciousness I am not alluding to the color of your skin, or the country that you are living in. I am suggesting that whoever you are, wherever you live, there are deeply held beliefs common to all people.

There was a time when race consciousness believed that the world was flat. Columbus was considered out of his mind when he talked about sailing to India. He held to his conviction and look what happened. He didn’t find India as he expected. He found America! One man changed the way we look at the world and changed the way men travel the world.

Jesus was born into a very strict religious Jewish family. At an early age Jesus separated men’s rules from God’s Laws. The Jewish people had been taught that every rule the priests gave them were God’s law. They couldn’t understand how Jesus could break them. To them Jesus was a blasphemer. He ignored their sacred laws. He defiled the temple by overturning the money tables and setting the sacrificial animals free. He healed, which was fine, except, He healed on the Sabbath. He had no respect for the Scribes or the Pharisees. He rebuked them for being corrupt. Unforgiveable was His claim to be the Son of God. He has to die! They were God fearing religious men. Jesus was a God Knowing Spiritual man.

On the cross Jesus asked the Father to forgive them because they didn’t know what they were doing. Jesus died; but not for long. He came back to prove they really didn’t know that death is an illusion held by the race consciousness. Unfortunately, we still don’t understand that God is a God of the living, not the dead.

If Jesus came back today, He would be sad to find we have progressed very little. We still hold tight to the old superstations. We don’t perform barbaric blood sacrifices anymore. It is good that we quit, the reason that we quit isn’t. We are still of the opinion that God sent Jesus as a sacrificial lamb. I may be wrong in my thinking but I think that a loving Father sent one of His children to teach His other children the Truth. All of humanity are God’s offspring. Men were unwilling to give up their “An eye for an eye’ to embrace ‘Turn the other cheek’ and ‘Forgive 70 x7’. I firmly believe that, if, Jesus had refused the cross our Father would have welcomed Jesus with just as much love.

When Jesus broke the manmade rule that it was a sin to pick grain on the Sabbath, even if it is only for your hunger, He answered, “The Sabbath was made for man.” I am quite sure that He wasn’t telling us to make it just another day.

We think, just as the Jewish people did, that the interpretations of someone who preaches from the pulpit is more accurate and we are willing to take their word and live by it. Then the misinformation eventually becomes the race consciousness.

The one belief that has permeated religions all over the world, regardless of what other beliefs and rituals they have, is an evil presence. It is called Satan in our Bible. The name will vary depending on the language spoken. The race consciousness decided there had to be an opposite of everything. Hot-cold; up-down; good-evil. Then the race consciousness made ‘it’ powerful; gave it a form; and then feared what they had conjured up from superstition.

I ask you- Where did evil come from? I ask you- If God fills all time and all space with His good, where is there room for His opposite? I ask you- If God created all things good, how can evil exist. I ask you- Would an intelligent Creator create something and give it power that He couldn’t control? I ask you- Can the one and only Creator know and see something that doesn’t exist? I ask you- Is there power in nothing? I ask you-did Satan create himself? In a way, yes,- race consciousness..

We can tell the child over and over that there is No monster under his bed; No bogy-man in the closet; and No ghost pecking at the window. He won’t listen. To him they are real and his belief is the cause of his fear. When he grows older he realizes they were his imagination and they all disappear, dissolve with his understanding. Race consciousness created Satan as our monster and as long as we fear we make him stronger. Is mankind plagued by a sinister power that rivals Almighty God? That anything or anyone (Satan or the devil) could stand against God is idolatry thinking and a slap to the face of God. There is nothing we can suffer from except the acceptance of illusion as reality. When we realize that race consciousness is mistaken Satan evaporates from our mind. When Satan goes sin, disease, sickness and death go with him because God has no part in superstition.

Columbus ignored race consciousness and enlarged the world. Who knows what you can do?
