No ProblemA Story by Loretta EdwardsNo Problem
Does the world hang heavy on your shoulders? Are you holding on by the skin of your teeth? Would you call today the worst day of your life? Do you have any reason to hope that tomorrow will be any better? Don’t you wonder what it is all about? Why are we here? And now that we are here why can’t it be easier? “That’s the way the cookie crumbles.” “We have to play the hand we are dealt.” “No gain without pain.” You might quote, “No one ever said it would be easy.” That is not entirely true. 2,000 years ago, a man the western world worships as the savior of humanity; a man revered for honesty and truth said this, “Come unto me all ye who are heavy laden and I will give you rest. My yoke is easy and my burden light.” With a promise like this why do we insist on suffering? Why can’t we believe His words? Would this man, Jesus, lie to you? “No, of course He did not lie! He must have meant after death. Earth is a learning process, a proving ground. Sometimes, God has to be harsh, either to get our attention or to whip us into shape when we aren’t toeing the line. Look around you, everyone has trouble of some kind,” is the argument you give me? Why do you think it is necessary to die to find an easy, happy, healthy life? Is God unable to meet your needs? Unwilling to give you a helping hand? Or just plain doesn’t care enough to be inconvenienced? Not my God! God’s Universe is Spiritual, with perfect spiritual beings, harmonious and eternal. Eternal includes Now. God has no problems; sees none; nor does He conjure up any, as humans seem to think, to send to earth to torment the creatures He alone created. “Then where do all my problems, troubles and misfortune come from? I have more than my share and I don’t dream them up myself.” you declare with passion. Actually you do! God lives in the spiritual, perfect, and eternal. We live in the material, mortal and decaying; and never the twain shall meet. The two worlds are opposite and incompatible; for our protection. If we could drag our good intentions and mortal beliefs into heaven with us; heaven would soon deteriorate and become a second rate earth. We don’t want that to happen. Better that heaven stays unpolluted with human error. If that means we have to learn what life is all about; how to live in spiritual truth; forget what we think we know; unlearn our cherished, but flawed beliefs; so be it. It is well worth the effort. It is true that we believe what we see. This is how the magician pulls the wool over our eyes with his illusions. It is also just as true that we see what we believe; this is how we trick ourselves into suffering from our own illusions, thinking that they come from outside ourselves. Our problem, whatever it is, is in our wrong thinking. We dream it; give it power; then fear it because of its power; next we think we can’t change things; so we accept it; then entertain it lavishly; and finally we blame sources outside our control for the entire situation. We reflect our Maker. God is healthy, wealthy and wise. Most of all He is happy. What on earth could cause Him to lose His joy? There is no way to reflect unhappy, or sad, or miserable from happy. No more than the reflection in our mirror would comb its hair while we brush our teeth. We need to separate Truth: God’s Reality; from the truth as we comprehend it from our human point of view; which is so distorted that we live in an unnecessary, illusory nightmare. Education and training must be in Reality. We need to guard against all forms of mistaken human beliefs. It is the false human thoughts that keep us chained, generation by generation, in forms of pagan religions, medical cures, poverty and sins of myriad forms. Spiritual knowledge will eliminate human want and woe; problems and troubles. We see all around us the results of eons of accumulated baggage. We worry because we think trouble always has been, always will be and who are we to think we can change what is? Worrying is an insult to God. It is the equivalent of turning our back on the Father who loves us and declaring to the world that He doesn’t have the capability to handle this situation. That God lied when He told us we have dominion over all the earth. That we don’t believe that we are made in His image and likeness or that we are indeed His children. We don’t trust His promises; don’t believe in His Love. God has no problems. Do you?
