Love (So Callrd)A Story by Loretta EdwardsLove (So Called)
The one word that best describes God is Love. Not love as we have come to think of the word. The human idea of love has almost become a four letter word. They use it as an excuse to fall in and out of bed with one person and on to the next and this is called love. I have a name for it and love is not the name that I would give it. What is the difference between human love and God’s love? Everything!!! When you check the divorce rate today it seems that not many go into marriage for the long haul. The only real reason to marry is because you are in love and want to spend a lifetime with your special someone. How fast that changes. Human love comes and goes. God’s love is forever. While we are dating our sweetheart can do no wrong. Love is blind, as the saying goes. After the honeymoon the faults stand out like a neon light. God doesn’t see our flaws. In fact, in God’s eyes we remain perfect, just as He created us. You, and also your spouse. Our spouse disappoints us. He doesn’t pick up his clothes or help around the house. He doesn’t work steady or doesn’t make enough money. She spends too much, doesn’t keep the house neat, can’t or won’t cook. So they call it quits. I’m sure we have disappointed God many times in many ways much worse. The Bible tells us to forgive seven times seven. The Father doesn’t keep score. Forgiveness is constant. Homosexual issues are in the news a lot lately. Christians say it is a sin. Most people want marriage to stay just between a man and a woman. I don’t know how the law should read. Although I am convinced that there are few born homosexual males or lesbian women. There is a lot of experimental sex going on only because they are curious and not because they have no choice. God overlooks the sin and loves the sinner regardless of whether it is a born defect or an experiment. We don’t need to judge, everyone pays for their own sin. If it is a sin, that sin is punished by the sin and the punishment is not sent from God. I have always thought, “There is nothing wrong with the kids, except the parents.” We tell them “No”, but ignore their bad behavior until it gets on our nerves. Then we want to punish them. We change the rules for our convenience and wonder why they don’t know what we expect from them. We love our kids dearly but sometimes they make us so angry we think of leaving home and not giving them our new address. God, on the other hand, is never angry and the laws He established for our benefit at the creation of the world have not changed We all have a skeleton or two in our closet that we hope will never escape. Men may never know of the dark secrets in our mind. But sin has a way of leaving a trail that leads to us. And don’t assume, when your sin is found out, that it is God’s punishment. Regardless of secret or out in the open, God knows. God already knows more about what you have done and the reason why you acted. Don’t try to fool God by begging forgiveness if you intend to continue in your sinful behavior. God isn’t interested in mere words. Men may judge you as right or wrong. All that really matters is your relationship with God. Right or wrong, good or bad, God’s love remains unconditional. There is no comparison with the love that God gives us and the, so called, love that we give in return. Human love is shallow, selfish, weak, fleeting, and we jump ship at the first sigh of trouble or conflict. God shows His love with the beneficial laws for our good that He set in motion at the beginning of time. His love is forever, forgiving, protective, and unconditional. We can’t match that or ask for anything more.
