But Wait There's More   

 

          I'm sure, by now, you have seen at least one commercial on TV where you are offered a great value in merchandise. Then you are told, "But Wait...There's More! If you order in the next 20 minutes we will send you a second one free." Why am I bringing this up?

          We are all looking for a bargain in these hard economic times. The words, "But Wait There's More," will draw your attention. We all want as much as can get for our money. A second one "free" just ices the cake. Free, without charge; given to you out of the goodness of their heart. Makes you want to place an order immediately doesn't it?

          If God were to advertise on TV what would His advertisement offer? Much more than free merchandise I assure you. Perhaps His advertisement might go something like this:

          Do you live in a high crime area? Are you afraid to leave the house after dark? Do you cower inside your house with all of the windows and doors locked and barred against the outside world? Fear no more! I have a protection plan that you won't want to refuse. No salesman will call; there will be no wires to connect; no contract to sign; no setting off blaring alarms by accident: and all at a price you can afford. But Wait There's More! If you call on me, I will personally guarantee the protection of you and your entire family 24/7, wherever they are; whatever they are doing. You/they can go any place you like in complete safety.

          Well, that takes care of safety. What might He say about health?

          Are you currently taking a prescription for a condition the doctor has told you is chronic or life threatening if not controlled? Are the rising pharmacy costs causing you to choose between your medicine and family needs? Are you upset because you haven’t seen an improvement in your condition? I can heal you! I can heal you without the side effects the medicine causes that are so disturbing and sometimes are as bad as or worse than the original condition. But Wait There’s More! If you want more information about the process I will send my best representative, Jesus, to your home. He has a long successful record of healing work. There is no sickness; disease or condition that He has not been able to cure. All that is necessary is that you believe we are ready, willing and able to make you whole and healthy.”

          Probably, at some time or another, we have all had a relationship problems with a spouse; in-laws; children; or neighbors. What advice would a commercial from God contain?

          Are your in-laws critical? Is your spouse demanding and unloving? Are the children disrespectful; unruly; mixing with the wrong crowd? Have your neighbors been aggravating lately? There are two kinds of people in the world.

           1) The unfortunate ones who don't realize how their words and actions affect others. There is no reason to call attention to their ignorance by becoming angry with them.

          2) There are others that enjoy making you the target for their deliberate nasty comments and hurtful remarks. Why would you want to give them the satisfaction of seeing you react? I can change your hostile environment by teaching you how to control your thoughts. You can change any situation with understanding. But Wait There’s More! As your love and understanding grow you will find everyone you have contact with becomes more relaxed, comfortable, and friendly. You will have the family harmony you long for. Don’t wait! Act now! This offer never expires but why put off your happiness?

          The government is losing the war on drugs. We are becoming a nation of addicts. Is there a way to quit?

          Are you addicted to overeating or diets; alcohol; sex; prescription drugs; the computer; the TV or anything else? Even the good stuff like work or church can turn you into an addict if you choose to be a workaholic or a religious fanatic. The basic reason for an addiction is fear. Fear that you are not adequate to meet the demands of life without a crutch. What to do? Call on me. I will relieve you of your crutch and replace it with confident happy living. I will restore the balance to your life. But Wait There's More! You don't have to leave your home to spend months or maybe years in rehab. Right where you are, right now, at no cost to you, I will make you a healthy, happy, productive, confident person. The person you have always wanted to be but thought you could not make the grade. And I will do all this without drugs of any kind.

          When we see a bargain on TV we rush to get our credit card; call the number on the TV screen; give a stranger our address, phone number, and credit card number; and congratulate ourselves on the shrewd deal we made. Then we wait impatiently for our product to arrive. Sometimes we have just what we wanted. Sometimes it is nothing like the item shown on TV and we have wasted our money.

          You know, of course, that we will never hear God making a plea on TV for our attention. Why should He coax us to take advantage of the marvelous life He offers? The Bible quotes our Father as saying, “Son, all that I have is yours.”  That is better than any offer on TV.

          All we have to do is ask and be ready to put God first. But we do have to ask. God will not force you to believe and accept His promise of unconditional love; health and happiness. You can choose to ignore His offer and continue to live in poverty, sickness, and being miserable in your relationships. The choice is yours.

          The Father has already offered us financial security; personal protection; glowing health; and family harmony. What more could we want? Apparently we either think the deal is too good to be true or we just want to make it on our own. Don't be foolish. Call today! God will personally answer your call and instantly resolve the situation. It is the Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom, but a gift is not a gift until it is received.
