There Is A Difference

It seems to me that most Christians believe that Adam and Eve were the first man and woman on earth. And why not? Grandmother told you the story when you were a toddler, the story was taught in Sunday school, it was preached from the pulpits, and you read the same story in the Bible. The Bible: the word of God: right in the very front where it details how God created the world. How can it not be a fact?

I can understand your confusion. How can you be the only one who thinks differently? It is a story that you can relate to. Two sinners who didn’t know how good they had it until they lost everything. But, tell the truth, don’t you wonder where Cain found a wife? And maybe there are a few other things that you question? Let’s see if we can’t find a new way of looking at creation. Let’s start with Genesis 1:1

“In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.” God created! God alone! God did it alone without help of any kind. God the intelligence; the power; the self-existence Life, Truth and Love created all out of the substance of Himself: Spirit.

1:3 “And God said, let there be light: and there was light.” God thought about what He wanted. Then He said, Let there be, and spirit flowed into the mold of His thought.

.         1:5 “And God called the light Day, and the darkness He called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day” This is a revelation of a spiritual creation. There is light, although the moon or stars or sun have not yet appeared. It was not until 1:14-19 that the heavens gave light, until that time the light was God.

From 1:20-25 God forms, blesses, and names the harmless, useful, and indestructible creatures that share the earth and waters with us. The lion and the lamb shall lay down together and a little child shall lead them. Although viruses and bacteria were a part of that creation they were not deadly, because, “And God saw that it was good.” All are gentle and content.

God, our Father has prepared a safe and comfortable place for His beloved children. He then created them in His image and likeness which is spiritual, not physical, and gave them dominion over every living thing. There was no forbidden tree, all of the fruit was meat for them. It is finished. You will notice there was nothing made to trouble or annoy or disturb or vex the people of God’s kingdom. Nothing has changed. God is the same forever. What He did for the first creation He did for us to enjoy also.

2:5 is important to our investigation of how we came to be. “Every plant of the field before it was in the earth and every herb of the field before it grew: for the Lord God had not caused it to rain upon the earth and man had not worked the soil.” And what more proof do you need to understand that everything was created through Mind and not matter?

Now we come to what you believe. 2:6 God creates again. This time man is dirt and Adam is put in the Garden of Eden to dress it and keep it. Right away God wants a slave. Worse yet, God puts a tree, that Adam is not allowed to touch, in the middle of the garden. How tempting is that? It is only a matter of time before the expected happens. It all goes downhill from here. You know the story.

When Adam doesn’t want any of the animals he could have for a help-mate, God makes Eve. Where did that lying, talking, snake come from? Did God also create it and it was so cunning that it convinced God that it was good? Or maybe it was self-created?

Adam was dirt. Eve was a rib and both were fully grown. Their children came as tiny, helpless babies made of sperm and eggs. The first woman came from a man. Babies come from women. What if Adam had accepted one of the animals? What would we be?

There is a difference. I will stick to Genesis 1:31 and 2:5 which is Spiritual and True. You can have Genesis 2:6 on: which is material and false if you still want it.

I don’t want to leave you with the impression that I think that the Bible is a lie. I do believe that we put our own human interpretation on scripture and then think that we have a fact. The story of Adam and Eve have a lot of knowledge to share with you, if, you read the description as an allegory or a metaphor and search out the hidden and deep meaning.
