Puppet or Human

A Story by Loretta Edwards

Puppet Or Human

I imagine that you believe in God? Most people do believe in some form of a Higher Power. For now we will use the term God. Are you aware that God is Life? You could not live without God having given you life. Your parents might take the credit, but without God you would never be. Then it logically follows that Life is Immortal; Life is Eternal; Life is Good. If you can realize the deep spiritual meaning of these words, your thoughts, through God, will build a wall around you that no evil can penetrate.

“I can agree that God is good. But, my life is more thorns then roses.”

That is the “race consciousness” syndrome. That means that we think like everyone thinks. That true happiness and peace can only happen after we die and go, we hope, to heaven. On earth we expect, anticipate, look for, and know that bad things happen. We just know that the other shoe will drop someday. “Into every life a little rain must fall.” A light, warm, refreshing shower. Not the cold, forceful, destructive storms that we experience.

It is my opinion that God gave us life with a conscience to guide us and free-will to listen to the advice it gives us or ignore that little voice of reason. God could have made us obedient and submissive in all things. However, forcing us to obey would make us puppets, not children. Our Father-Mother-God created us in His image, with the ability to accept the love offered or ignore it or down right reject it. The choice is ours to make. Forced love is no love at all.

God is not upset, or jealous, or vengeful about our neglect. God in His wisdom knows that at some time in our existence we will return home. Like the prodigal son we will have learned that the pleasures of sin are false and the pain it causes is too awful and severe to bear. The brother, which is most of us, will awake to understand that a pious devotion to religion is pretending and those beautiful, but man-composed, thoughtless rituals, with no real spiritual meaning or thought behind it, is a useless waste of time; and we are missing the joy of knowing God. We will both go home eventually, the sinner and the pious fake; where we will find our Father-Mother-God waiting for us with unconditional Love and not a word of rebuke. No rebuke is necessary"our miserable life is proof, a testimony that we can’t live our life alone. We need God!

I’m sorry. This sounds a lot like preaching. Preaching what I think is not my intention. My objective is to get your attention so you will see the difference between human good-which is limited and fleeting, and God’s spiritual Good- which is always available and eternal. Happiness to be enjoyed today; here and now; not after death.

We simply don’t comprehend that God’s good encompasses all time and all space, the earth and heaven. Where is there a place for evil to hide? Even if, the devil, or evil or sin, or trouble or disease were real in any form, could it harm us in any way when we are living in God’s Good?

If it is God’s will for you to be sick, do you honestly think that the hospital or doctor or medicine or surgery can heal you and nullify a decree from God? Disease was not among the good things that God created. Therefore it does not, in God’s reality, exist.

Over our lifetime we have sincerely believed in many things that do not exist. We feared ghosts, monsters, vampires, the werewolf, and the bogey-man. We loved Santa Clause, the Easter bunny, and money from the tooth fairy. We outgrew these false beliefs. Why do we find it so hard to give up the devil and all the lies, trouble, and ills he is supposed to bring with him? He is no more real then the others.

God’s Good has no opposite.
