And you say things ain’t awkward between us
The distance between us is like Mars and Venus
One heavenly body between us like the Earth was
You said it wouldn’t keep us apart like an unplanned birth does
And the love between us wouldn’t defeat us
And that’s only because what’s between us
Is more than just a penis and thus
The trust between us must be continuous
If things gonna work out between us
So when I give you a hug, why is it like an ocean between us
What happened to the foundation we laid
Or the relationship we made, the friendship you let fade
Away like the phone calls every other day
After hours, a few drinks, you creep into my bed
Say a few little things that f**k with my head
Brush it off, don’t really give a f**k what you said
Your words are like my pockets, they stay empty
Even though I said I’d be your ears when you need venting
Still meant more to me than any late utility bill fee
Like electricity you said I kept you from being free
And lied to you when truth is you the one keeping things from me
And yet every strong mother still recommend me to they daughter
Cos I’m cool like a tall drink of fresh water
This is a story about a man whose character was murdered
In the soundproof basement of a jealous insecure ex-lover
Driven to the arms of another, formerly known as the other
Woman got angry like foaming at the mouth
So pissed wanted to come down south to Texas
To get with-,but you know better than to mess with
The consequences of falling out of love, the heartbreak
The river cried bled into the great lake
Eerie theories are formed without the truth being known
Situation got blown outta proportion and now look how you gone
Into the arms of a man who checks up 100 times
Every night you eat dinner, thinking what a victim of bad timing
You become and how you might fight to combat the lies
And insecurity, the lows outweigh the highs
Keep my eyes on the prize and I don’t mean what lies
Right in between your thighs
The real love that’s between me and you…
