The Sunny-ish Day

The Sunny-ish Day

A Poem by Jonathan Matthews
"

Written on a day when it was sunny during class, and cloudy between.

"
This day did start off wretched,
Rainy as can be,
Today would be quite awful,
This I soon could see.

Unexpectedly there came down
A drop of golden honey.
In a cascade of radiant drops
The day became quite sunny.

As soon as I went out, however,
The sun hid by a cloud.
I was, indeed, disappointed,
At this cursed, thick, gray shroud.

Dejected, I went back in
To mourn the passing sol.
But then, the sun shone bright again,
The solid rays quite whole.

Surprised I went back out
To greet the warming sprite.
But again he played a trick on me;
And it was almost dark as night.

The clouds were really angry,
They poured their anger on my head.
A deluge flowed down from the sky.
It soaked me through, and I said,

(After I went inside, of course)
"Why does Nature hate me so?
The sun will, no doubt, come again,
But rain will follow me, I know."

Sure enough, the sun peeked through,
But I summoned all my will,
I stayed inside, despite the sun,
Of rain, and clouds I've had my fill.

In stepped Mom with a great big smile,
Then saw me on the floor.
She shook her head in pity
As she walked out the front door.

I know the thought she was thinking,
There can only be this one,
'Why is he still in
When there's such a nice bright sun?'

I love it. The flow is nice and it's easy to dip into the feelings that are being emitted. Great job!! ^_^
