too close

too close

A Poem by laika

too righteous to die, too prideful to live.

if your wings were wax you would be melted.

bleeding heart,

essence of life, shattered choices.

you lose a feather every time you take flight

a smattering of your soul left with each past moment.

your wings are too heavy to be furled, too beautiful to be cut.

what shall we do with you?

It is so powerful and beautifully explained... I am amazed by your success in writing. It is absolutely beautiful, very meaningful and deep... I feel like nothing else I can say will be enough. I guess my English is not enough to tell you how much I really liked it, I hope you can feel it. In my favorites.

My pleasure, any time.
too heavenly minded to be earthly good, a phase often repeated to encourage getting my head out of the clouds and off the lofty perch and do something that counts for something in spite of " you lose a feather every time you take flight" - really nice line and image - enjoyed your work -carl

'what shall we do with you' cut me deep. An extraordinary poem, very deliberate on how we should feel or do to please others. The choice of language almost reminds me of what an individual has to undergo in society to please everyone but, in the end, is left alone.
I am not sure if my interpretation is quite right, but in any way, this poem is like a honey to my soul. Also, the reference to the past moments ensures me that this is something you might be struggling with.

You are perfect the way you are, just a reminder. Do not worry about flying high even when your wings can melt.
