Chapter 27

Final part of the Vacation mini-arc ^_^

"Are you ready yet?"Amber demanded, standing outside Ralph and Daniel's room, tapping her foot impatiently, her arms crossed.

The door opened and Daniel came out, a large frown on his face. He strode past Amber and went down the hallway to the elevator where Rene was waiting. Ralph came out the door next, a rim pexpression on his face. He did not meet Amber's stern gaze, choosing instead to stare at the ground as he turned around to lock the room.

"Let's go,"Amber said softly as she began pulling her bag to the elevator, only a few feet ahead of Ralph.

It was Friday around lunchtime, and everyone was preparing to leave. Ralph didn't want to go. Rene and Daniel were ignoring him completely now and only Amber even talked to him, even if it was in a very stern tone.

Ralph arrived last at the elevator and they all waited in silence. The doors opened and they filed inside, Daniel pushing the one button as they stepped in.

Ralph sighed. He wanted to star here for awhile because he knew that once they went back to school, Daniel would probably ignore him during Math and would avoid him during lunch. He knew he had seriously hurt Daniel's feelings and everytime Ralph looked in the mirror, he knew he deserved the bruise on his left cheek for what he had said to him. He had talked out of pure annoyance and it had cost him. He had tried multiple times to work up the courage to apologize to both Daniel and Rene, but everytime he opened his mouth to speak to them, they would glare at him and walk away. He knew Amber was mad at him for yelling at Daniel and he thought maybe perhaps she felt guilty for causing Rene to be mad at Ralph.

With a sigh, Ralph grabbed his bag as the elevator door opened, and they all filed out easily, having been the only ones in the elevator.

They all started walking towards the exit when, just as the elevator closed only about five feet behind them, the sound of an explosion rang through the air behind them, shaking the hotel. People began screaming and hotel attendents were panicking.

The electricity suddenly shut down in the whole building, leaving people trapped in elevators and some people, who didn't have balconies, were trapped in their rooms.

"What just happened?"Rene said, looking at the others in worry.

Suddenly, gunshots could be heard all around them and they heard bullets flying all around them. Amber quickly forced Rene down, and Daniel did the same to Ralph. Bullets whizzed over them wildly and they heard more screaming than before. Then, just as they had began, the gunshots stopped.

"Stay down,"Amber ordered. She stood up slowly, waited a few seconds, then signaled to the others that it was okay. They stood up quickly, shaking from head to toe.

Suddenly, a voice broke through the unnatural silence.

"Dunelia Resort Hotel, surrender Princess rene of your kingdom to me or be slaughtered!"

The voice echoed loudly throughout the entire hotel. Everyone slowly looked at Rene. Rene, however, didn't notice.

"That voice...,"Rene said quietly in disbelief.

"You have one hour,"the voice stated.

"No...,"Ralph said quietly.

Amber gasped.

"That's-"

"Angel,"Rene said in shock, leaving the others to stare at her in disbelief.

Author's Note

For those of you who don't remember who Angel is, it's Rene's older sister who appeared very early in this part. The one who ordered the detective to get out of the house really quickly. So now the question is why is Angel ordering for Rene, and is she really willing to slaughter all of those people to get her? Thanks for reading ^_^

Wow! The suspence! Drama! Action! Revealed secrets! Amazing! I was totally shocked to read that it was Angel! Wow! Very intriguing! I can't wait to read more! :D
