Chapter 24

Part 2 of the Spring Break mini-arc ^_^ I actually included it's title so you all could wonder what it is Daniel could possibly do that's helpful lol

Daniel woke up extremely late on Tuesday, which was the second day of Spring Break. He gave a huge yawn and sat up to see Ralph sitting cross-legegd at the foot of his bed, a big grin on his face.

"Come on, sleepy head!"Ralph said and Daniel just stared at him.

"What for?"Daniel asked, getting out of bed and stretching.

"We're going for a walk in the park today,"Ralph said happily, jumping off of the bed. Daniel looked at Ralph's eager face.

"Oh, alright,"Daniel said.

"I'll meet you at the front of the hotel in ten minutes!"Ralph said, running out of the room. Daniel sighed.

Ten minutes later, Daniel emerged from the doors of the hotel and Ralph couldn't help but want to hug him. Daniel was wearing a t-shirt and shorts. However, Ralph found it so casual that it was cute...in a brotherly way.

"Ready?"Ralph asked.

"You told me to be here in ten minutes,"Daniel said,"So whether or not I'm ready doesn't matter."

Ralph's grin dropped off of his face. Then, Daniel grinned.

"Just kidding,"Daniel said. Ralph grinned and started to lead the way.

The park was amzingly small. It had a small track for people to ran dnad a few playground objects, but that was it.

"So why are we here?"Daniel asked.

"Just for a walk,"Ralph answered, leading Daniel to the track. They began to walk around it in silence.

"Did he just bring me here for this?"Daniel thought to himself,"It seems kinda pointless."

"Want some ice cream?"

"What?"

Daniel looked up and saw Ralph pointing at an ice cream shop just ahead.

"Sure,"Daniel said and they stepped inside and walked in the line that consisted only of a woman and her daughter.

"One strawberry ice cream cone, please,"the woman said. The cashier girl at the counter for the ice cream cone and handed it to the girl, who said "Thank you" and took the cone happily. However, just as she began to lick the cone, she accidently dropped it.

The little girl looked down at her ice cream and tears began to well up in her eyes. The mother knelt down to see her daughter eye-to-eye.

"I only brought enough for one,"the mom said sadly."Maybe if you ask the lady nicely, she'll give you another one for free."

The girl nodded and looked up at the cashier.

"Um...m-ma'am. I dropped m-my ice cream. May I have another?"

"No,"the cashier said."You shouldn't have dropped the ice cream in the first place."

The little girl stared at the cashier and burst into tears.

"Please!"the mom pleaded,"Give her another! She really wanted some and we're only here for a few more hours and this is the only ice cream parlor in the town!"

"No."

"You-!"Ralph began to step forward. However, Daniel put one hadn on Ralph's chest and stepped forward himself.

"Excuse me,"Daniel said to the crying girl and her mom.

"I would like one strawberry ice cream cone please,"Daniel said and the cashier got the ice cream and handed it to him.

"Thanks,"Daniel said. He turned around and knelt down in front of the crying girl.

"Here you go,"Daniel said and the girl looked at him, then the ice cream. Her face suddenly lit up and she slowly took the ice cream.

"Thank you!"she said happily.

"Thank you,"the mom said and they left along with Daniel and Ralph. The little firl waved a good-bye and her and her mom continued walking.

"Why did you stop me?"Ralph demanded.

"Yelling would not have given that girl another ice-cream"Daniel said."It was more effective just to get her another one."

Ralph looked at Daniel as he continued walking. Daniel was right. Yelling would have solved nothing.

"Wanna go to the park?"Daniel asked.

"We're at the park,"Ralph said.

"No, the amusment park,"Daniel said with a laugh.

"Oh,"Ralph muttered."Sure."

"Let's go!"Daniel said and he grabbed Ralph's hand and dragged him to the amusement park.

For the rest of the day, they rode rides, played games and goofed off. By the time they started going back to the hotel they were staying at, the sun was just starting to set.

As they were walking, they saw the girl and her mom walking along the sidewalk ahead of them.

"Did you have fun at the mall today?"they heard the mom ask.

"Yep,"the girl said. Daniel and Ralph watched as they began to cross the street.

Suddenly, they heard people yelling.

"Watch out!"

Daniel and Ralph looked to the right and saw a car speeding towards them. They looked ahead and saw the girl had accidently kep going without her mom. Her mom was yelling for the girl to go back.

"Get outta my way or get splattered!"a man from the speading car yelled,"I don't car who or what I hit! I'm not going to jail!"

Ralph and Daniel looked at the girl and saq that she was staring at the car that was charging towards her.

"Elizabeth!!"the girl's mom screamed.

Ralph watched in horror as the car kept going. Suddenly, out of the corner of his eye, he saw Daniel charge forward into the street. Daniel quickly scooped the girl up in his arms and dove forward just as the car sped through where Elizabeth had just been. Daniel quickly turned himself in mid-air so he landed on his right arm, making sure Elizabeth was okay.

"Elizabeth!"

"Daniel!"

Both Ralph and Elizabeth's mom ran forward. Daniel looked at Elizabeth who not only looked suprised and scared, but also happy to see Daniel. Daniel stood up and brushed himself off.

"Thank you, thank you, thank you!"Elizabeth's mom said, hugging Daniel and then turning to her daughter to hug her. A police officer rushed forward. Everyone was ignoring the driver who had crashed just after almost hitting Elizabeth.

"Are you okay?"the officer asked. Daniel nodded.

"If there's anything we can do for you, just tell us,"the officer said and Daniel and Ralph took 'we' to mean the officers at the scene.

"I'm okay,"Daniel said."I just want to go to bed."

And with that, Daniel began walking back to the hotel, Ralph walking speechlessly beside him.

When they got to their room, Daniel immediatyl began to get ready for bed. He took off his shirt and reached for his bed one. However, he felt a hand and looked up to see Ralph looking at him.

"You really had me worried,"Ralph said quietly. Daniel didn't say anything.

"I-I thought I was about to lose you,"Ralph continued."I don't want to lose you."

"I'm sorry,"Daniel said.

"Don't apologize. When I lost my memory, I felt lost. I only realized that when I got it back. I needed Michael and the others. Meeting you again...made that feeling leave me."

Daniel kept looking at Ralph. He looked so sad.

"Please,"Ralph pleaded,"Promise me that no matter what happens, I won't lose you."

Daniel kept looking at Ralph's sad eyes. He took Ralph's hand and squeezed it gently.

"I promise you,"Daniel said,"I will never leave you."

Ralph looked into Daniel's eyes and knew he was telling the truth.

Man, that was a long chapter lol But it's nothing compared to the ones that come in later on, but those are really fun ^_^ Yep, so who was suprised that Daniel actually saved the girl at the end? My friend Taira wasn't when I read it to her. She thought for sure that little girl was gonna be a gum mark on the street lol Thanks for reading ^_^

I was really surprised that Daniel actually did such a heroic deed! Totally awesome! Lol. The little girl dropped her ice cream and Daniel bought another one. I was like "Awwwwwwwwwwww! How sweet of him!" I loved that scene + the speeding car one, too. Cool chapter. It made me laugh a little. Oh, and the scene at the end, so cute! Loved it! :D
