Chapter 18

If I make a description it will give away a spoiler, so no description this time. But what are you reading right now then?

Ralph had not heard anything from Jonathan for a while. Nonetheless, he never gave up hope. Rene remained as isolated as ever from everyone else, her sisters having gone back home. She had locked herself away in her room recently and had refused to come out. Ralph had begun to worry, but everytime he went to try and visit her in her room, she never answered.

So Ralph had left her to herself for the time being. He found it easier that way. And a week after the explosion, he was finally off to school again. He had actually transfered to another school and was actually looking forward to it.

Ralph had gotten through his first day without any problems until he got to fourth period, where he saw two familiar faces to his and the others delight.

"Ralph!"Daniel squealed for the umpteenth time in two months and ran at him. Daniel stopped just in front of him.

"You ARE Ralph, right?"Daniel asked and when Ralph nodded, Daniel hugged him tightly.

"I knew I wasn't crazy!"Daniel said delightedly.

"So...,"Ralph muttered as he sat down to the left of Daniel,"You've met Jonathan now?"

"Yes,"Daniel nodded,"He mentioned he was helping someone once and upon interrogation, he revealed it was you!"

"'Upon interoogation?'"Ralph chuckled,"Is he teaching you or something?"

"Just some stuff I picked up from him,"Daniel shrugged.

"So tell me,"he pleaded,"What's been going on since you left? Why did you go to the exploding castle? What do you remember?"

Ralph sighed and began to tell Daniel everything, starting from being picked up by Rene. He made sure to leave out, however, the strange memories he kept seeing in his dreams, or the ones he saw right before the castle exploded.

When he was finished, Daniel was gaping at him.

"You know a princess?"Daniel said breathlessly.

"Yeah."

"That is so cool!"Daniel said loudly and as he was shushed, Ralph saw the old Daniel coming back...the one he remembered.

After class, both Ralph and Daniel had lunch, so they spent it catching up. Apparently, at Roran's request, both Michael and Dante switched schools and Daniel went oever to this one, though he didn't know why. Noone did. Daniel explained that after the caste had exploded, Roran had become very isolated, much like Rene, though they both knew the reasons were very different and Roran's still remained a mystery.

As the bell rang, Ralph stopped Daniel.

"I have to go,"Daniel said, however, Ralph held him.

"Promise me you won't tell,"Ralph asked.

"Tell what?"

"About me!"

"W-why?"

"Just do it!"

"O-okay,"Daniel promised and Ralph released him and Daniel scampered off to class.

He did not want Daniel telling the others everything. There were some things he was not sure of and he did not want to worry them.

Plus, he had some business to attend to. With a small sigh, he headed off to class.

Yep. They're united ^_^ Don't forget this chapter, cuz it sets up a lot of stuff later. Alos, the next chapter is filler stuff, so feel free to ignore it if you want, though it does have some slight character development moments. We're getting close to my favorite parts of the book so updates will be done really quickly, cuz the chapters I'm wanting the most feedback on are coming up.
