Chapter 7A Chapter by Eidolon MichaelNew Years is two days away and Michael has fallen into a depression. What could be causing it?Ralph the lazy one. Roran the intelligent one. Dante the angry one. Daniel the hyper one. Which one would it be? There was something about each one of them. It was hard to believe that after all this time, one of them would- "Are you okay?"Daniel asked. Michael looked up from the ground. He had been sitting in a recliner, rocking back and forth, staring at the ground, deep in thought. "Yeah,"Michael said to Daniel with a smile. Daniel smiled back and ran back to his room to play his new game. Christmas had come and gone, with Michael spending tons of money on the four other people. It was now the day before New Years Eve. When will I have to tell them,Michael thought to himself. He couldn't bring himself to tell them yet. It would devastate them... "Michael, I've been-are you okay?" Michael looked up at Roran. "You seem really depressed lately,"Roran said. "Is something wrong?" Michael looked at him sadly. "Tell them to come here,"he muttered. A few minutes later, Roran, Dante, Ralph and Daniel were sitting on the couch looking at Michael, who was pacing across the living room. They all waited patiently. "You all know that you're a part of me, right?"Michael asked and the others nodded. "Over time,"Michael began,"people change. Their emotions become less strong and become dormant. As you know, you are based on these emotions." "What're you getting at?"Dante asked impatiently. Michael sighed and looked at them all sadly. "Just like emotions, you all two will disappear over time,"Michael muttered."However, only one of you will remain in this world in the end." "I don't understand,"Roran said, standing up,"You mean...one by one, we'll disappear, based on your emotions?" "No,"Michael answered,"Not by my emotions. By whatever strange force keeps you in this world." There was a very strong silence. "Why haven't you told us sooner?!"Ralph demanded. " I didn't want to worry you!" "Well, too late! Why did you decide to tell us now?" Michael looked away. "Sometime, in the early morning of the new year, one of you will disappear,"Michael muttered. "That's in two days!"Dante said angrily. "I know." "So...one of us won't be here after the new year?"Daniel asked. "Yes,"Michael nodded and the other four Michaels looked at each other sadly.
"We already know that you have most of his memories,"Ralph said to Daniel,"Which means you probably have a higher chance than anyone else." "Michael said it could be any one of us,"Daniel said quietly. "Well, we'll just have to wait and see,"Roran said. "But shouldn't we try and figure it out?"Ralph asked. "Do you really want to know?"Dante asked Ralph."If we know, it would make it harder for the person going to disappear." Michael walked into the bedroom and everyone immediatly stopped talking. "You guys should go to sleep,"Michael said. It had been hours since he had told them and they had locked themselves up into their rooms and Michael had remained in the living room. "Okay,"Roran said and they all went off to bed. Tommorow,Michael thought to himself. His head throbbed painfully. "Tommorow will be one of their last days,"Michael muttered. "I'm sorry, guys." © 2010 Eidolon MichaelAuthor's Note
