Measles

Measles

A Poem by Edwina
"

Something I wrote, but can't recall having done so.

"
Slipping away on a skinny bed
Atomic homes with lights of red
Pitney sings a haunting tune
Snowflakes greet a rising moon

Fever's up and hopes are down
Nightlight's on with steady frown
Mother cries and doctor leaves
Cuffs rolled up with bloody sleeves

Quarantined and immunized
Miracle sought and highly prized
TV set off and puppy is quiet
Martian wanted Why not try it ?

Candle prayers Robbie Robot
Johnny Ray and Xavier Cugat
Work some magic Froggy twanger
Favorite shirt is on the hanger

Midnight comes and fever's broken
Snow is heavy chimney's smokin'
Jerome is hungry for ice cream maybe
A teen aged boy becomes a baby

Clocks are chiming church bell's ringing
Christmas came with happy singing
A New Year awaits our young Jerome
At least he didn't die at home
