Keys To The CastleA Chapter by EdwinaIt's official. The Blundon House will survive.Daniel drove Brenda to the bank for the closing process. Everything went smoothly. There would be no monthly mortgage payments. The keys were in an envelope, along with legal papers, and floor plans. Brenda said that she would be having Ernie the Locksmith replace many of the locks with authentic hardware. The entire experience seemed way too easy for her. She had been used to a lot of "red tape" when she'd settled her mother's estate. Daniel took her to the Insurance company after they left the closing to thank them for providing the bank with proof of insurance, and Daniel mentioned the possibility of installing fire extinguishers, and burglar alarms to the agents. His experience as a policeman came in handy, and he wanted his secret girlfriend to feel "extra safe" in her new "castle." Brenda stopped to see the Locksmith about his finding her new locks, and Daniel went back to his rental house on Tuckerman Street. She went behind the alley to see if there were any packing boxes left from the coffee shop delivery truck. There were several that would be the first to hold her worldly goods that would be in the Blundon house within a few days. The house had passed inspection with flying colors, but there was a problem with a few missing tiles in both bathrooms, and some of the mahogany wood needed replacing near the staircase. She telephoned a restoration service in Washington D.C. and they made an appointment to come out and take a look, then, hopefully provide a "ball park" estimate. Brenda wanted to find out as much about the Blundon's as she could, but despite the fact that several of the relatives, and a few of the children still lived in the area, she was reluctant to bring up old hurts from the past. There had been several owners of the house, and she wondered if the Blundon descendants ever even gone by to look at the old place. She needed images. She wanted to bring in her Spiritualist friends from Beltsville, and Georgetown but the less they knew about the family, or house, the better, because fraud was rampant in many of the Spiritualist gatherings. Her next plan for Daniel was a visit to Mount Olivet Cemetery where many of the Blundon, and Waters family members rested. She had only lightly touched on her philosophies with Daniel, and wasn't sure how he would react to some of her theories. C J Marks
