Danse MacabreA Poem by Claire ChittyI once, a dance with a skeleton, was invited.
I once, a dance with a skeleton, was invited.
His toothy grin and black eyed charm did entice me into a timeless stance. We whirled in time with opiate music. Our elegant bodies travelling the darkness leading me on to a spectral sight. Out feet did stride 'cross purgatory souls who's putrefied, jealous limbs did claw to clasp and scratch our dancing bones. We waltzed in time midst the demons ball where masked grotesques perversely stared and mocked my pirouetting momenti mori. Our enervated promenade at last slowly waning he clasped me in his osseous arms and whispered deeply 'Now, my lovely'. Seducing with a benevolent, arcane smile, he laid me down in my sweet, satin grave. No grieving sighs, no one weeps. Sanguine Mute Departed. I once, a dance with a skeleton, was invited.
His toothy grin and black eyed charm did entice me into a timeless stance. © 2014 Claire ChittyAuthor's Note
