Fluttering Back

Fluttering Back

A Poem by louanimal
"

:)

"

Their floating and fluttering begins with

a glance

a glittering glance that ignites their wings

into dancing flames when you kiss me.

They return with each step in your direction,

each right foot-left foot towards our dusty dream

of a peacefully together reality that

just might work.

But these belly butterflies don't flap for phonies,

and they know you

and I know you

as home

Lovely write , like way you set it up as gentle breeze.

there is a natural grace and levity to the language in this lyric. i sensed the subject matter would touch upon butterflies before i read it as so, because the rhythm within the text had an erratic flutter to its flight. not surprised, am i, that such genius was floating from a future doctor. the turn i was surprised by "these belly-butterflies do not flap for phonies," is that, within that gorgeous line, the surprise origin of the flight surfaces. the ending, at home, brings a delicate grace to this fragile piece. good work.
