Fall in love, AgainA Poem by 3liud
I know we both have stared into the sky and wished that tomorrow never comes.
That we have both wet the pillow not knowing what next, who to call to. But let’s pretend that this is our first time, let’s forget all that past pain. Let’s pretend that this is our first time That we have never had our hearts ripped out. Let’s pretend that the gaping holes where our hearts should be don’t exist. Let’s pretend that we have never felt this before. Common, let’s smile childishly, Scribble in the dust with your feet like this is the first time you have talked to me. Sing joyfully in the kitchen like you are falling in love the first time. Forget the demons that haunt your dreams. Forget about the pain that keeps you awake at night and- Tonight, sleep with a smile on your face. Run around the house smiling, Look away blushing when I speak. Close your eyes and move away when I try to kiss you. Make it a new start. I know about the horrors you have faced. I have faced them too. I know about the fear that this might have another painful ending. I fear that too. But- Look away and chuckle. Smile and run back into the house. Call me and refuse to hang up. Let’s re-live those fun days. When we felt the feathery brush of love on our hearts. Refuse to leave. Let’s sit here and silently let our hearts sing and converse. Be reluctant to hold my hand. Let’s pretend this is the first time we are falling in love. Feel the warmth in your heart and want all of me to yourself. Let’s pretend we are kissing for the first time. Let’s hold hands and let go fast. Look into my eyes and say the words for the first time Say I am all you want and you never want me to leave. Say it fast before I wake up from this dream. Before I go back to the dark shade of day. Let’s pretend before- Before I face the lonely day yet again. © 2019 3liud |
