An angel at my shoulderA Poem by Keith. When I watch the river flow, I feel a shiver through my soul
a sensation that I get when I feel so completely whole, when I listen to the ocean, or a bird sing in a tree I feel life’s natural reflection coming ever close to me, when trees talk in the forests, there’s so much they want to say to the spirit of a dreamer while he wanders through each day, I see eyes that glow from faces that remember me once more and I feel sea spray absolution, when I walk along a shore. When I walk into an empty church I hear the whispers grow so many smiles, so many tears, so much for me to know, soft gentle hands that touch my face give me a sense of peace and most of all I know them all, who grant me such release, so many generations that have lived and grown and died were really only waiting for their life pains to subside, into perfect peace projections that bring comfort to their shade as through the pages of forever, they all laughed and danced and played. When I run up to my Mother, I feel five years old again as she runs her fingers through my hair, and takes away my pain, and her kiss of liquid velvet explained everything to me while her eyes gave me serenity, and so much more for me to see, like my lovely Father standing with his wondrous crooked smile and my bother’s arms reached out to me, and hugged me for a while, then they reached into my soul to leave their gentle songs once more as I tried to lift my tear veil while I walked out through the door. I felt an Angel on my shoulder as I sat in church yard shade so I said that I was sorry for each life mistake I’d made, but the Angel spoke back to me like a Mother to her child that for all I had apologised, my sins were reconciled, then as I stood up by a tree, I heard a robin call my name as the sky above the church yard burned with twilight’s velvet flame, and from the open churches door, their whispers called again that where I walked they would walk too, through sun or wind or rain... © 2014 Keith. |
