Life and rhyme, a song sublime.A Poem by Keith. The pages lie open, the writing seems done
The ink of life dries in the heat of the sun, On the shores of remembrance the whispers are white Washing over dark pebbles that shine in the light, And still writings remain on the glistening beach Some are washed out to sea and yet some stay in reach, To change with a stick or to dress with a dream For life’s tides can make them much more than they seem. The skies are cloud crowded vermilion shades Intertwined lapis lazuli glows and then fades Into the seclusion of all gone before From shell scattered runes that are strewn on the shore, Where footprints entwine from long gone silhouettes From their love and peace time where the sun slowly sets, As slowly dawn stretches and dresses herself From the whisper soft moments she takes from her shelf. Then the sun writes it’s memoirs in shadow silk lines That draw back the voile curtains and softly defines Every born again breath from those long sleeping days When the meanings of life were much more than it’s plays, When it’s tears were it’s ink and it’s dreams were it’s pen And when life’s joy and pain were it’s now and it’s then, When a heartache was more than a rose in the snow More the chilling of dreams from their heavenly glow. Although life can be thoughtless and threadbare sometimes Still so much can be wrought from the style of its rhymes, From a smile to the sky to a cry in the rain Life holds so many moments for us to explain From the anguish of pain to the joy of delight When a newly born child is held up to the light, To those exquisite moments that sometimes arise That hold songs in the soul, and hold love in the eyes… leonite © 2014 Keith. |
