I was, I was

I was, I was

A Poem by annie lee
"

wow -- a poem that rhymes! but it sounds like a limerick...

"

I was twenty-three

and given to hyperbole

yearning to be bold and free.

but what I chased

turned my life to waste

and now, a bitter reverie.

often we chase what is bad for us because we just want more, more, more instead of settling for what we need.

ah, but to discover that so late...
I liked the flow of words. A interesting journey leading to good ending. You did very well. The use of words caught the reader and held my attention. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.

Thank you. I am very clumsy with rhymes. This is a rare occurrence.
