crazy lady

crazy lady

A Poem by annie lee

not having an easy time of it:

whether it is delayed menopausal madness,

high-tech stress

or simply the chronic insanity

brought on by my good-natured husband

who seems to be blithely unaware

of how sensationally ill-suited we are.

I would like to find a high meadow

like the one Julie Andrews twirls around in

during her romp in The Sound of Music

but instead of pleasant warbling,

I would like to scream bloody murder,

scream at the top of my lungs

until I have no voice left,

until I am limp and gasping for air.

no one would hear.

this is heavy...sometimes others just don't get our insanity...we cannot spell it out clear enough...and they just keep smiling...

like the Julie Andrews' reference.
