This poem screams, "Hello world, here I am. Give me your worst or your best. I can take it!" So empowering. Great imagery. Love how you brought spiders into the poem....oh, if only they could do our chores. How wonderful that would be indeed! Great write. Lydi**

A jocular peruse into yet another day at the 'office' !
I particularly admire your affinity with our arachnid companions, stealth workers they surely are !!

i count the victims
newly trapped in spiders’ web.
i salute my leggy
allies. pity laundry falls
beyond their skills. pity too
they can’t do dishes.
Ain't that the truth. Fine write, Annie.

I can't call it boredom, maybe rather a ratcheting down of expectations and vulnerability to titillation. Cheers.

I'm not far on your heels; I hear you, but just barely;)
I feel like this almost every single day, Annie! Ha! The spiders NOT doing 'pity laundry' had me laughing out loud! Great poem. Angi~

I was once known for my pristine home and garden, lavish holiday decorations, exquisitely presented gifts, etc, etc. Well, THOSE days are gone. I have no money -- cannot even afford to send Christmas cards because stamps are almost 50 cents apiece -- and no family even close to visit. I am strangely ok with that. And I kinda like not having that huge expectation looming over me. Cheers, Angi.

i'd like to be able to do this a lot of days too...just burrow down and ignore the day...let the spiders do it...
but the chores won't do themselves and we need to get up...oh well.
you spoke for many of us with this poem...thank you for your voice.

I do get up and face the day, but there a lot of skirmishes during that time. ah, well. Retirement, those days you longed for when you had money, and now that you're here and have no money, the irony is exquisite.
I'm a tough old broad who spent almost 30 years at Ma Bell, and that is high level training for surviving in the jungle. Thank you for your patience.
