My Addiction

My Addiction

A Poem by Empty Spaces

Pills And Pills
they numb the weight
but in the night my stomach starts to ache
the feeling of not feeling
what a lovely state

I've seen what they've done to my father
brought him to the floor
in his eyes tears
but still begging for more

My heart remembers
what my mind forgets
you see, I remember your love
but I don't believe in it

Dull moments
of whatever my eyes capture
a wandering junkie pleading
for whatever comes after

There is happiness in my world
or at least the world I choose to live in
there's smiles and laughter
and joy given

I just need Some color added
to all the black and white shapes
and music surrounding me
to ignore all my mistakes

I don't need your sympathy
I love who i'm becoming
allow me to enjoy the sound of the bells
and birds humming
