Play Your Cards, JokerA Poem by JillianThis has a lot of meaning to me. It makes me feel so many emotions every time I re-read it.It is funny to a joker in a clown's nose. Laugh along, I suppose it's worth a chuckle. Feel yourself as lovely as a king, don't you? But the king sits above you, throned in modest respect. Crack a few jokes, that's your job, right? Steal a few giggles, what's the harm, right?
A smile from the shining king is worth it all-- even a smirck from the queen. face powdered and lashes blooming. Fired candles to light her glow, teasing, taunting, what's the harm, right?
Silent glances and tension growing, jokes rise to see her chest rise, too. Royal king sits in peace, oblivious, and in peace. Yet war is coming and love is crashing, and the silence is soon to be out. Open game and tearing hearts, arrows pierce what was from the start. What's the harm in just a touch with the porcelain queen? It is all but funny to a joker in a clown's nose, right? © 2010 Jillian |
