My BronwynA Poem by 23rdstarThere is the soft of strumming of a guitar echoing in what is left of my heart Fingers quietly plucking out the notes as I remember the far days of that summer Of hazy sunsets on the edges of the desert and being almost innocent Housing deveopments spread out over the nothing The feel of her body pressed into my arms and how we looked down together into the diamond that i'd stolen for her to wear on her finger Our cups of cold kool-aid in our hands, the hard still warm curb our throne My girlfriend... She was everything that could have ever been or ever would be right then A blonde goddess, fallen angel with her legs cradling me as her love, a young prince How she took my new soul in her hands and showed me what love could mean Taught what it was to be held close and cherished Teaching how to love her in the cool dark of her bedroom Our mouths touching as she brushed back my hair and drew me between the barely understood paradise between her thighs Lazy smooth nights driving the freeways to the edges of nothing Being so in like that no words were ever needed And letting it be until there was a love that could not last Dancing in the park under the glass globes of light And running through the cold streams of water until her white dress was soaked through to her pale skin That smile as she spread herself out across the wooden planks of a picnic table to let my still boyish fingers explore Now she is gone on And those summers are over The picnic table is gone But still i'm thinking of My Bronwyn... © 2010 23rdstar |
